The next name up on Jose Canseco's mudslinging list is none other than Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez. In an interview Friday with Boston radio station WEEI, the former Oakland A's slugger and former Yankee said that he had the "other stuff on Alex Rodriguez," and that he plans on laying out the details in a book he's shopping to publishers now. When the radio-host asked if A-Rod was on steroids, Canseco said "Wait and see."

Tino Martinez continued his incredible pace of late, hitting two home runs to tie him with teammate, Alex Rodriguez, for the league lead at twelve. Since making two critical errors in the tenth inning of a game on May 6th, Tino has unstoppable at the plate, hitting eight home runs with 19 RBI”s over eight games. Nobody expected a revival of this magnitude when he retuned to the Yankees, but with Jason Giambi’s continued struggles, it is a welcome addition to the team.

Brown’s and Mussina’s gems could not have come at a better time. Mussina snapped a four-game losing streak that included three losses to Tampa Bay (Tampa Bay!) and a sloppy 6-3 loss to Oakland on Friday night. Still, Gothamist needs to see more. The A’s line-up is hardly potent, especially with Eric Chavez, its best hitter, hitting .190. Still, Tampa Bay’s line-up is not fearsome, yet it still managed to torch Brown in his previous start. These starts are baby steps for the Yankees. For a team that is now six games under .500, those are the only steps they can take.

Getting four runs off Mulder is like getting a date with Carmen Electra, it just doesn't happen that often. The Yankees pitching continues to be a problem. The offense has been consistent all year, but the pitching is another story. The Yankees are not worried about losing a few games in the regular season to the Oakland A's, but the signs are there for a mediocre off-season, due to the poor pitching. In the playoffs you win games 3-2 or 2-1, not 10-9. That is what concerns the Yankee fan, what is going to happen in October when we match up aagainst three top notch pitchers.

It was a good and busy weekend at the Stadium for the Yankees. the Yankees managed to take three out of four games from Baltimore and increase their lead over the Red Sox to 9.5 games. The big trade that everyone wanted to see (Randy Johnson coming to the big Apple) did not happen, but Cashman was able to unload the inconsistent Jose Contreras for the steady Esteban Loaiza.

It's a no brainer, but Gothamist thinks that with the slump over, Derek Jeter will return to his normal ways. His average will steadily climb the rest of the season from .161 towards his career mark of .315. Fantasy players, if you can trade for Jeter, do it now.
