This week, we dipped out toes into the waters of extreme Giants fandom. As it turned out, the guy who shaved the Giants logo into his head seemed pretty tame compared to the mysterious "Travis from Queens" who tattooed Eli Manning giving Peyton Manning a noogie on his butt. We've tracked down Travis to ask him all about his giant Giants tattoo, and how he ended up inscribing the Manning brothers on his derriere: "It's about time Easy E gave his big bro some noogies and I wanted my tush to be the forum for this occasion."

Plaxico Burress Getting Existential in Prison
The Giants face off against the Indianapolis Colts today, but the only thing former star wide reciever Plaxico Burress will be facing is nine more months in prison. A gaunt Burress gave a long, in-depth interview with Daily News from behind bars, in which he recounts the hardships and dissapointment of prison life. "I didn't do anything to anybody. I did it to myself. I committed a crime. I broke the law. That's why I'm here. I can't do anything about it...If I'm so intent on going back to that moment, then I'm not making any progress. I'm not moving forward," he said.
Plaxico Not Getting Out Of Jail Anytime Soon
Last we heard from former Giants wide receiver and anti-leg activist Plaxico Burress, he vowed he would make a comeback in the NFL once he got out of jail. But today he learned that that day wouldn't be arriving anytime in the immediate future. Burress was denied work release for the second time since his two-year prison stint began. Burress had requested a "temporary release" so he could begin playing this season. The state Department of Correctional Services said it was denied because, "the serious and negative impact illegal guns have on the community coupled with dangerous nature of the weapon discharging in a public place renders him unsuitable for work release participation."
Videos: Giants Fans Vs. Cars
Somehow, three cars in the Meadowlands parking lot caught fire during the Giants' loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The State Police believe it was a barbecue mishap, but the cars were easy prey to grieving, seething and probably drunk Giants fans, who decided it was the perfect outlet for their pent-up rage. NJ.com posted these videos of some fans trashing the cars.
Cops Find "Small Cache of Weapons" at Plaxico's
Yesterday morning, authorities from NJ and NY raided the Totowa, NJ home of Plaxico Burress and found a "small cache of weapons and ammo." The Post reports, "If the guns are unlicensed, the embattled wide receiver could face additional charges in New Jersey on top of the felony gun-possession charges he was slapped with after shooting himself in the leg at a Manhattan nightclub last month."
Week After Burress Shooting, Details and Deep Thoughts
A week after Giants star Plaxico Burress shot himself in the leg at a Manhattan nightclub, the Associated Press has put together a narrative of what happened. It starts Burress (pictured, at right, with lawyer Benjamin Brafman) and teammate Antonio Pierce's arrival to the LQ nightclub in a Cadillac Escalade:
Burress bypassed the line of patrons and got into the club despite the semiautomatic gun in his [track] pants and ordered a drink.more ›
Bloomberg Snarks About Plaxico Shooting
Mayor Bloomberg made it very clearly earlier this week that he wants to throw the book at Plaxico Burress, who accidentally shot himself with his illegal gun (Bloomberg hates illegal guns!). And he's probably less thrilled, now that it seems the Giants didn't contact the police about the shooting either. But he's having some fun with it: The Post has video of Bloomberg making a joke related to the incident.
Antonio Pierce Lets His Lawyer Talk For Him
Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce spoke to the media today, but did not mention anything about last Friday night/early Saturday morning, when he was at a Manhattan nightclub where teammate Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself. Pierce said, "I am not speaking about any events that happened Friday or Saturday morning. If there are any questions about the New York Giants as a team and going forward and about the Philadelphia Eagles I will answer, but again I will repeat myself, I am not answering any questions or tell you anything that happened on Saturday." Pierce's SUV was impounded by the NYPD, because he drove Burress to the hospital.
Giants Vendor Settles with Paralyzed Girl's Family for $25 Million
In 1999, a NJ man who attended a Giants game--where he was served enough beer to have 0.266 blood alcohol level (legal limit is 0.08)--drove into oncoming traffic, paralyzing a 2-year-old girl and injuring her mother. Now it's revealed the Giants' beer vendor, Aramark, settled with the Verni family for $25 million. The settlement was split between daughter Antonia, now 11 and a quadriplegic on a ventilator and her mother. Though a jury's awarded $105 million to the family, an appeals court sent the case back into court. (The driver served 5 years in prison.) The Star-Ledger reports that yesterday's appeals panel found the case raised "issues of significant public concern" like whether the Giants and NFL "engaged in practices that encouraged socially irresponsible behavior, such as excessive consumption of alcohol." Verni's lawyer was happy with the deal, "She needed to get the appropriate care, and this will more than take care of her for the rest of her life."
Plaxico Heads to Giants Stadium, Hospital Under Fire
Plaxico Burress is at Giants Stadium to meet with team officials for the first time since he accidentally shot himself in the thigh. And the NYPD is investigating why NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, which treated the Giants star, did not report the shooting to the police. According to the NY Times, state law requires hospitals or doctors to contact the authorities "at once."
Mayor Bloomberg Not a Fan of Plaxico's Actions
Mayor Bloomberg had very harsh words for Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress, who turned himself in to the police today (after shooting himself in the thigh at a nightclub on Friday). The mayor took some time out to discuss the matter; the Post has quotes:
Plaxico Burress Turns Himself In
This morning, Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress turned himself in at the 17th Precinct, two days after, reportedly, accidentally shooting himself in the thigh while at the LQ nightclub in Midtown. The Daily News reports Burress walked "with no sign of a limp from the bullet wound."
Reports: Plaxico Burress Shoots Himself in the Leg
Oh, Plaxico Burress. Fox Sports reports, "The New York Giants wide receiver accidentally shot himself in the leg on Friday night... He spent the night in the hospital and the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The team is still trying to gather further information on the incident."
Company with Nazi Ties Interested in Giants/Jets's Stadium Naming Rights
As the Giants and Jets consider possible companies to buy naming rights to their new stadium, one serious suitor appears to be German insurance and financial services company Allianz. Some say a 30-year deal could go for $25 million. However, the NY Times' Richard Sandomir has an article about Allianz's "disturbing connections to Nazi Germany. Allianz insured facilities and personnel at concentration camps like Auschwitz and Dachau." It also refused to "pay off the life insurance policies of Jews, and sent cash that was due beneficiaries and survivors to the Nazis. It also became the insurer of Jewish valuables taken by the Nazis."
Giants' Jeremy Shockey Reportedly Traded to Saints
NY Giants players Jeremy Shockey has been traded to the New Orleans Saints for 2nd and 5th round draft picks, according to Fox Sports. The tight end has been vocally unhappy this past season, after breaking his leg in a December game against the Redskins (and missing out on the Giants' Super bowl victory), and had complained about coach Tom Coughlin and his teammates. Also, a recent meeting between Shockey and Giants general manager Jerry Reese allegedly became a "shouting match." Fox Sports adds that the deal is subject to league approval and Shockey passing a physical.
Antonio Pierce Tackles the King of All Media
The latest craze for professional athletes is to intern in media. Ranger forward Sean Avery is headed to intern at Vogue this summer, while Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce spent today interning for the Howard Stern show. Bababooey!
Giants Meet Bush, Wounded Soldiers
Before being feted at the White House, the New York Giants visited the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and met soldiers wounded in Iraq. Coach Tom Coughlin said to one 31-year-old U.S. Marine whose lost both his legs in Falluja, "You are the real heroes."
Giants' Eli Manning Gets Married in Mexico

Liveblogging Super Bowl XLII: Giants vs. Patriots
11:27PM: We're enjoying the postgame coverage of the Giants' victory, with sad Tom Brady, really excited Michael Strahan (singing Eli's praises), Peyton Manning being thrilled with his brother's success (aw!) and thoughts from the 1972 Dolpins, secure with their undefeated record for another year (but the Patriots still won more games in a row!). While we've been inside, there are a number of large crowds celebrating the Giants' win all over the city - the police have been called to break some of them up!
Giants' Celebrity Fans Get Ready for the Super Bowl
We know that Giants co-owner and movie producer Steve Tisch has been trying to ramp up the star power for the Giants sidelines. After Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and Cameron Diaz were seen at a game last fall, Tisch told the NY Times, he brings "the spices, the taste, the flavor" to the Giants (if the Giants experience were a soup; the other co-owners, the Maras, would bring the meat and potatoes).
DigitalLife at the Javits
The fourth annual DigitalLife event kicks off today at the Javits Center. Featuring over 200 exhibitors, it is easily the best preview of digital gadgetry coming to life in the fall quarter. Times Weddings Highlights: Wedding Planners Are $$$
If you ever thought wedding planners were a waste of money and a huge headache, you'll love this NY Times article about them. Sure, there are good ones out there (if you have any suggestions, feel free to list them in the comments), but there are many horror stories, like a couple who went through two "planzillas" (including one whose planning was turning their wedding into a million-dollar affair) until finding one they could tolerate. Our advice: See how much the catering manager of the venue you're planning your event is willing to take on. And then rope in an understanding, super patient friend or relative who is Type A enough to want to help you out. And if you have any other advice, let us know!
Pats Coach Belichick is Also a Park Slope Landlord!
Not only has New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick won the Super Bowl three times, he's also smart enough to invest in some Park Slope real estate. The "Mad Genius" (okay, only when he's playing against Jets coach Eric "Man Genius" Mangini) bought a $2.2 million townhouse on Sixth Street and is allegedly renting it out to his mistress. And by rent, we mean, Sharon Shenocca says she's renting it, but it's unclear whether he's charging her anything at all.
