According to NYCT Subway Scoop, "Nostalgia Special departs 42nd St - Grand Central approx 7:15pm tomorrow making 4 express stops en route to The Stadium." NYC Transit has cancelled today's Nostalgia Train, because it's trying to deal with making sure the subways and buses work on this snowy day. According to the NYCT Service Alerts, "Due to snow removal efforts, please expect delays on all New York City bus and subway service at this time." And LIRR service is described as "extremely limited" (the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management urges people to stay at home) —150 people were stranded for hours on a Ronkonkoma-bound LIRR train from Penn Station, because of "drifting snow, frozen switches and equipment failure." more ›

"Vintage Tea Party" Turns The Subway Into A Soiree

       

Santacon wasn't this weekend's only crazy costume event. Dozens of New Yorkers donned turn-of-the-century garb for the second-ever "Vintage Tea Party" which took place yesterday on an antique V train. Participants sipped tea, nibbled on dainty cookies, and did just about everything else you'd expect at an old-timey gathering as they traveled from Lower Manhattan to Long Island City and back. Though the "Vintage Tea Party" is over, locals looking for antique entertainment can still ride in classic subway cars on the "Nostalgia Train" — which will run on the V line on Dec. 20 and Dec. 27 between 10 am and 5 pm. more ›

A group of costume-clad commuters will turn a subway ride into a subterranean soiree. The tour guides from Levys' Unique New York will host a free, unsanctioned "Vintage Tea Party" on an antique subway train where costumed straphangers can sip tea, dine on dainty cookies, and enjoy "everything else you'd expect from a late-19th century parlor-room drama," according to organizers. more ›

Nostalgia Train fans, this is your month! NYC Transit is running the 1930s-era Nostalgia Shoppers' Special on the V line between Long Island City in Queens and lower Manhattan! According to the MTA, "The Nostalgia Shoppers' Special is made up of subway cars in service from the 1930s to the 1970s, running along the lettered lines from the Grand Concourse to Coney Island. NYC Transit says the 1930's era IND Nostalgia Train will leave the Chambers Street E platform at about 10 a.m. and "will make stops enroute to the D line at West 4th Street, arriving at 47-50 St/Rockefeller Center station."
