The Yankees are a lousy 3-3 after dropping their first three games to Tampa (but then they turned it around in Baltimore), but hopefully luck will change at today's 1 p.m. home opener. To put fans commuting by subway in a good mood, the MTA is rolling out the Nostalgia Special again!

Tomorrow is the annual Vintage Tea & Swing Dancing Party aboard a vintage subway train, hosted once again by Levys' Unique New York. The free (aside from your MetroCard swipe) event takes place tomorrow from noon to 4 p.m., and all interested parties should meet on the 2nd Avenue station's uptown F platform. Reminder: Boardwalk Empire Vintage Subways Start Running Today (9/3)
For you subway enthusiasts, as well as those who take the 2 and 3 lines, a gentle reminder: The MTA is running a 1920’s train on the express 2/3 track in Manhattan—starting today—every Saturday and Sunday this September, between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. between 42nd and 96th Streets. It's all part of HBO's promotion of its drama, Boardwalk Empire, which is set in Prohibition-era Atlantic City.
Nostalgia Trains Return Tomorrow (Without A/C, Just Like The Old Days)
You can't blame the MTA for no air conditioning on the subway cars if they're simply trying to deliver you an authentic experience! The agency brings the Nostalgia Train back tomorrow morning, inviting you to join them "on the ever popular boardwalk-bound Coney Island Nostalgia Train, riding the R1-9 cars of the Independent Subway System... it’s 'All Aboard' for a scenic (above and below ground) two-hour ride to Coney Island."

NYC Transit is running a holiday Nostalgia Train on Sundays along the Sixth Avenue M line between Queens Plaza and Second Avenue. Which means it's time for Levys' Unique New York to offer up its annual Vintage Tea Party—they say, "The Party Like its 1912! Dust off your cravats and unfold your parasols; freshen up that boutonniere and adjust your monocle."
Nostalgia Train Rides Start Today
Ready for a blast from the past while you're doing your holiday shopping? NYC Transit has the "Nostalgia Shoppers' Special Train" running every Sunday through December 26. Straphangers on the 6th Avenue line between Queens Plaza and 2nd Avenue are in luck—here are details from the MTA, "You can catch a ride on these classic R1/9 subway cars at stations along the weekday M line between Queens Plaza and 2 Av. You can board the train at these stations" —today's first one leaves 2nd Avenue at 10 a.m.!:
ALCS Game 3 Nostalgia Train Leaves Grand Central At 7PM
The Yankees face off with the Texas Rangers for Game 3 of the ALCS tonight. NYC Transit Tweeted about the Nostalgia Train departing tonight, "The Nostalgia Playoff Special is made up of vintage IRT Low Voltage subway cars, dating back to 1917... The Nostalgia Playoff Special departs 42nd St-Grand Central at approx 7:00pm, via express to 161st St."
Take Nostalgia Train to Yankees Game Tonight
Folks who are heading to the Bronx tonight for the Yankees' ALDS game against the Twins tonight, consider taking the Nostalgia Train tonight. According to NYCT Subway Scoop, "Nostalgia Special departs 42nd St - Grand Central approx 7:15pm tomorrow making 4 express stops en route to The Stadium." Last year, NYC Transit ran Nostalgia Trains during the ALDS, ALCS and World Series! (We don't want to ask whether there are Nostalgia Train plans beyond today.)
No Nostalgia Train Today
NYC Transit has cancelled today's Nostalgia Train, because it's trying to deal with making sure the subways and buses work on this snowy day. According to the NYCT Service Alerts, "Due to snow removal efforts, please expect delays on all New York City bus and subway service at this time." And LIRR service is described as "extremely limited" (the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management urges people to stay at home) —150 people were stranded for hours on a Ronkonkoma-bound LIRR train from Penn Station, because of "drifting snow, frozen switches and equipment failure."
"Vintage Tea Party" Turns The Subway Into A Soiree
Santacon wasn't this weekend's only crazy costume event. Dozens of New Yorkers donned turn-of-the-century garb for the second-ever "Vintage Tea Party" which took place yesterday on an antique V train. Participants sipped tea, nibbled on dainty cookies, and did just about everything else you'd expect at an old-timey gathering as they traveled from Lower Manhattan to Long Island City and back. Though the "Vintage Tea Party" is over, locals looking for antique entertainment can still ride in classic subway cars on the "Nostalgia Train" — which will run on the V line on Dec. 20 and Dec. 27 between 10 am and 5 pm.
"Vintage Tea Party" Headed To The V Train On Sunday
A group of costume-clad commuters will turn a subway ride into a subterranean soiree. The tour guides from Levys' Unique New York will host a free, unsanctioned "Vintage Tea Party" on an antique subway train where costumed straphangers can sip tea, dine on dainty cookies, and enjoy "everything else you'd expect from a late-19th century parlor-room drama," according to organizers.
Nostalgia Train Running On December Sundays
Nostalgia Train fans, this is your month! NYC Transit is running the 1930s-era Nostalgia Shoppers' Special on the V line between Long Island City in Queens and lower Manhattan! According to the MTA, "The Nostalgia Shoppers' Special is made up of subway cars in service from the 1930s to the 1970s, running along the lettered lines from the Grand Concourse to Coney Island. Ceiling fans, padded seats and incandescent light bulbs were state-of-the-art when these cars were first placed in service."
Rockettes Aboard 10 AM Nostalgia Train From Chambers
The Radio City Rockettes are definitely busy these days—this morning, they will be on a Nostalgia Train! NYC Transit says the 1930's era IND Nostalgia Train will leave the Chambers Street E platform at about 10 a.m. and "will make stops enroute to the D line at West 4th Street, arriving at 47-50 St/Rockefeller Center station." Well, naturally the destination is Rockefeller Center, which is right by Radio City Music Hall, where the Christmas Spectacular is playing.
Nostalgia Train Is Back For Game 1 Of World Series
NYC Transit's Nostalgia Train is back for tonight's game. According to its Twitter feed, "World Series: 4-car vintage 1917 IRT Nostalgia Special departs Grand Central 7:15pm to 161st St. Come join the fun. Go Bombers!!"

After offering the special four-car train during the ALDS, NYC Transit has brought back the Nostalgia Train (circa 1917 Lo-V cars) for the American League Championship Series between the Yankees and Angels. You board the Nostalgia Train at Grand Central at 7:15 p.m.—NYC Transit says it will arrive "at 161st Street-Yankee Stadium about 30 minutes later."

A reminder to anyone going to tonight's Yankees-Twins game—you might want to take NYC Transit's Nostalgia Train, which leaves Grand Central at 3:45 p.m. The four-car train, which headed to the Bronx on Wednesday, makes "all express stops on the Lexington Avenue Line and arriving at 161st Street-Yankee Stadium about 35 minutes later."
Train To The Past
NYC Transit offered some folks heading to the Bronx for tonight's Yankees' ALDS playoff game a ride on a four-car Nostalgia Train, which originally began service in 1917 (they were retired in the 1960s). If you missed it today and are heading to Friday's game, keep this in mind, another "Nostalgia Special" will depart 42nd Street-Grand Central at 3:45 p.m. (it makes "all express stops on the Lexington Avenue Line and arriving at 161st Street-Yankee Stadium about 35 minutes later").
'Tis the Season for the Nostalgia Train
Starting today, the MTA will give you a chance to step back in time. A vintage subway train--the "Nostalgia Train"-- will be running every Sunday through December on the V. In the words of the MTA, "With a little bit of luck and good timing, you can catch a ride on this classic subway car at stations along the V line between Queens Plaza and 2 Ave."
