MUSIC: Ever wonder what former Weezer bassist Matt Sharp has been up to? Well, he's back fronting his other old band, The Rentals. With a long list of former members, amongst them Maya Rudolph and Petra Haden, the group is now six-strong, and playing Nokia Theater tonight in support of their new EP, The Last Little Life.

Tis the season for hibernating and canceling plans 'cause it's too cold to go out. Here's what could, possibly, maybe get us out from under the covers this week:

The sad Jets host the disappointing Raiders, Sunday at 1 p.m. in East Rutherford. With former Giants QB Kerry Collins struggling, Oakland looks to start the physical Marques Tuiasosopo, who hasn't even taken a snap in game action this season.

Move over Brooklyn Vegan, now there's something leaner. And tastier, too. Mmmm, meat. Hello, I'm Catherine's Pita (henceforth known as Gothamist), and I'm here to tell you about the shows most likely to satisfy your hunger for the rock this week. Here's what's on the menu:

"When Mawangu Mingiedi, 72, a musician and truck driver from Kinshasa in Congo, built a sound system for his street band, Konono No. 1, years ago, he wasn't aiming for sonic innovation." [NY TIMES] All the way from Africa, Konono No. 1 make their NYC debut at Joe's Pub on Wednesday. The dance party continues Thursday at S.O.B.'s with an early and late show. Joe's Pub is way sold out, but tickets for the other shows are still available.

This may be your last chance to see Danzig play NYC. Not only that, he'll be doing a 30 minute Misfits reunion set with Doyle (again). Don't miss it. We hear the new Nokia Theatre is a classy venue too. Get there early for the all-star lineup of metal bands that comprise this year's Blackest of the Black Tour. The music starts @ 6:30.
