Naturally if there are saber-toothed tigers and velociraptors loose in Prospect Park, there must be a ninja and unicorns, too! We discovered some more photographs of signs alerting park goers about the new measures to protect the fragile soil. It's turns out it's the work of the Non-Traditional Park Preservation Task Force. They say, "We love Prospect Park and the Ravine, newly restored after years of abuse. The topsoil can’t compete with folks hopping the fence and tromping on the plant life. We’d love to see the area stay beautiful for years to come!" more ›

Yesterday we got an email about some kids knocking down garbage cans in Williamsburg over the weekend... but it never mentioned ninjas! Over at Free Williamsburg they have a more detailed and intriguing tip regarding the incident:

"I wanted to see if you had heard anything about another vigilante attack on N 6th St last night (Sat 4/17) between Bedford and Berry. I live on the block, and my friends and roommate reported seeing a 'Ninja looking' crew dressed in all black run[ning] down the street from Bedford to Berry and smash[ing] the drivers side window of every car on the block. I saw patches of glass all the way down N 6th."

From the Courant: "A man dressed as a ninja waving nunchucks on a street corner this morning was arrested and charged with breach of peace, police said...Police said Garland Eastman, 30, of 335 Center Road, was yelling about wanting to beat up U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman, among other diatribes, but he became polite and cooperative after officers started pulling out their bean bags and taser guns." more ›

In New York, there's the Staten Island Ninja Burglar, who stealthily entered homes to steal money and other valuables. In NJ, there's the would-be Shinobi ninja warriors who were trying to rid the streets of drugs, by way of threatening letters. more ›

The shadowy "Ninja Burglar" and his brazen break-ins - when homeowners are present - are worrying Staten Island residents. A Todt Hill couple's home was broken into by the infamous Ninja Burglar last night. The craziest part: The wife ran into him. A Staten Island man was about to fall asleep early Thursday morning only to be woken up when someone broke into his apartment - little did he know that it was the 'Ninja Burgler'.
