Gilbert Arenas took advantage of New York’s defensive ineptitude last night, scoring 46 points in just three quarters of the Wizards 110-89 victory. The Giants had their chances, but they just couldn’t stop the Redskins when it mattered. Santana Moss went wild, scoring three TD’s, two of them on receptions over fifty yards, as Washington beat New York 35-20. The win keeps the Redskins in the playoff hunt and leaves the Giants facing a big game in Oakland next week if they want to win their division. more ›

The Mets won despite some Bad News Bear-like action on the basepaths. Gothamist has seen softball leagues with better baserunning. With the bases loaded and no outs in the 6th inning and a chance to blow the game open. While they did manage to score 3 runs, it seemed like there was a chance for many more. Ramon Castro was thrown out at first base for the 1st out after a ball hit David Wright in the back. Livan Hernandez, who happened to be in the wrong place at the right time, out of position and backing up the catcher in of the plate, picked up the ball and threw out Castro at first as he rounded the bag. The other two outs came on a double play to Jose Guillen in right field. Miguel Cairo hit a fly ball to short right field that Guillen caught and doubled up Marlon Anderson with. more ›

A 9th inning rally by the Mets put their only runs on the game, but was stopped short when Brian Daubach flied out to end the game with the tying run at 3rd. Gothamist has no idea why Willie Randolph turned to Daubach, who is hitting a stellar .087, and not Miguel Cairo who was on deck when the final out was made. more ›

7 games vs. the Orioles, 70 runs and 7 wins. Yankee management has got to be thinking, "can we schedule some more games with these guys?" Last night the Yankees jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead on an Alex Rodriguez home run in the 1st inning. Mike Mussina, making his first start since he injured his groin 10 days ago, got off to a rocky start, but managed to pick up the win. Mussina gave up a three run home run to Miguel Tejada in the first inning, but settled down after that. The Yankees never looked back. A-Rod added another home run in the 7th inning and Derek Jeter had a homer in the 2nd, as the Yanks posted yet another win over their American League East rivals.
