New Yorker Festival 2010: Herzog, Carell, Baldwin, Gaiman

Tickets go on sale Friday at noon for this year's New Yorker Festival, which, as usual, has a lot going for it. Highlights of the three-day, early-October series include talks with Werner Herzog, Alec Baldwin, Steve Carell, Lorrie Moore, and Neil Gaiman. An event featuring newly-svelte actor John Goodman has been mysteriously canceled, but there will be a panel, Live from New York, featuring Seth Meyers, the head writer for Saturday Night Live, and other TBA cast members. An opening-night screening of David Fincher's film The Social Network (the Facebook movie) will be followed by a discussion with the film's stars, Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake. And to keep track of it all, there's a New Yorker Fest app in the Apple Store & Android Market today! more ›

New Yorker Festival Blogged

New Yorker Festival Blogged

Gothamist didn't get to make it to this year's festival (we were a little slow to pull the intellectual cognoscentic trigger), but we will try to right that by getting the insane collection of 4,109 New Yorker issues on eight DVDs. more ›

New Yorker Festival Lineup

New Yorker Festival Lineup

Thanks to Product Shop NYC (who also reports that the New Year's Eve act at Madison Square Garden will be...The Black Crowes), Gothamist is salivating over this year's New Yorker Festival line-up. Edie Falco! The RZA! Ricky Gervais! Trey Parker and Matt Stone! Sleater-Kinney! And Wallce and Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit! The New Yorker Festival runs September 23-25, and tickets will go on sale on August 25. The tickets range in price from $5 to $50, most being in the $15-30 area, and the programs range from the highbrow (reading by Ian McEwan, Town Hall Meeting on Iraq) to the delightfuly low (A Salute to the Three Stooges). Here's a list of the programs. more ›

More New Yorker Festival hilarity from Choire for The Morning News (thanks for the visual of David Remnick wearing his "off-label jeans too high"). A recipe from Grand Marnier utilizing cranberry juice and Grand Marnier.
