Gothamist is sponsoring New York City Photobloggers 9 tonight @ 6:30PM at the Apple Store SoHo-- there will be six great presentations by local photobloggers, a giveaway by Photojojo, and some free beers afterwards. If you like photography, it'll be a good time.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out for the Gothamist-sponsored New York City Photobloggers 6 event last night at the Apple Store! We had an overflow crowd come and listen to some of the best photobloggers in the city-- six great presentations on technical issues (camera choice, image processing, site-building) and subjects (street-photography, portraits, abstracts, architecture...) We also gave away a tons of prints, and a copy of Aperture, the new process-app from Apple (congrats, Red!) Afterwards, we all hit a packed Merc Bar for some free beer-- yum! If you missed it, come to the next one in May, or check out all that's going on in our photoblogger community at the NYCPB site.

If you enjoyed yesterday's post about night photography, check out Peering into Darkness, a new photoblog that we've been digging. There's 30+ great night shots in his archives-- including the spooky picture from Williamsburg, above. [Related: the New York City Photobloggers have announced the lineup for their 6th Apple Store Event on February 10th. Some great pblogs are representing!]

The New York City Photobloggers are opening their first gallery show tonight at the Chrystie Street Gallery (167 Chrystie, between Rivington and Kenmare). Word to the wise: bring sunglasses, because there's going to be a lot of crazed photobloggers running around with giant flashes. Some of our favorite photobloggers are in the show, including Eliot Shepard, Rion Nakaya, David Gallagher, and Joe Holmes (disclosure: one of us has a couple of prints in the show).

Looking for something to do this Friday? Well, why not start off the night with some photoblogs! Friday evening at 7 is the 4th installment of the ever popular New York City Photobloggers talk at the Apple Store. The evening's speakers are Jenene Chesbrough, Raul Gutierrez, Nontajit "Go" Lertworachon, Jay Parkinson (aka Gothamist Health), Travis Ruse, Eliot Shepard, and Keith Kin Yan.

Hello, everybody. We've had a couple of exciting months, launching SFist and DCist as well as growing our staff, and have a busy fall/winter planned as well:

Gothamist loved this photograph from Rion Nakaya's rion.nu because it reminded us of one of our favorite films, but there are other fabulous photographs to be found on the site. Rion and other photobloggers will be speaking at the New York City Photobloggers Exhibition, on Thursday, February 26, SoHo Apple Store.

From the photographic stylings of Laura Holder, whose two sites, lauraholder.com and fotolog laura titian, keep Gothamist busy. Laura and other area photobloggers will speaking at the New York City Photobloggers Exhibition, on Thursday, February 26, SoHo Apple Store.

Today we are launching the beta version of The Gothamist Forum, a bulletin board for the site. If the forum catches on, it will become a permanent feature of the site- until then, you can find a link to it in the center column, right under the interview box. Register for the forum today! What should the forum be used for? Posting comments unrelated to the main posts on Gothamist or the Gothamist Interview, and posting stories or announcements or events. If you feel like being a moderator on the board, or being one of the anchor posters on the board, please email Jake and he'll get you set up right.

A picture of alma mater from Jake Dobkin's photoblog, Bluejake. Jake will join other photobloggers in speaking and showing their photographs at the New York City Photobloggers Exhibition, on Thursday, February 26, SoHo Apple Store.

A beautiful photograph from Eliot Shepard's slower of the Brooklyn Army Terminal. Eliot and other photobloggers will be speaking at the New York City Photobloggers Exhibition, on Thursday, February 26, SoHo Apple Store.

To get ready for the New York City Photobloggers Exhibition at the SoHo Apple Store next Thursday, February 26, Gothamist will bring you a photograph of each one of the photobloggers until the talk which will include presentation from Six Apart and fotolog.net. Today's photoblogger is David Gallagher of lightningfield, with a picture from inside the Time Warner Center.

And as God is our witness, we will have another Happy Hour...just not in February. But don't fret - on February 26, Bluejake is organizing an event at the Apple Store in SoHo for New York City Photobloggers and their fans. More details to come.
