A New Brunswick businessman says that the city's Mayor, James Cahill, is holding up approval of his liquor license for a sports bar there because he doesn't like the name. So the owner, a Yankees fan, has filed suit in federal court to be allowed to open up the bar, which he plans to call Buck Foston's. Shootings After Rutgersfest Ends Fest FOREVER

Rutgers University inspired a Bronzer-tinged outcry after they paid Snooki of This Jersey Shore Life an absurd amount of money to come fist pump and shotgun education at the school. Amazingly, this was just one of several low points leading up to the chaotic celebration that is Rutgersfest: 11 people were arrested and four people were shot over the course of the one day event. NJ Youths Sentenced in Cemetery Desecration

After toppling 499 headstones in January, four teenagers were sentenced today in Middlesex County, NJ. The Star-Ledger reports the judge gave the teens, ages 15-17, 18 months probation, plus paying some of the damages, writing letters of apology, serving 100 hours of "community service keeping community cemeteries clean" and attending "a 12-week course studying the Holocaust." more ›

NJ Cemetery Vandalism Caused by 4 Teens

A week and a half ago, hundreds of headstones at the Poile Zedek Cemetery in New Brunswick, NJ were toppled over, raising concerns that the Jewish cemetery had been targeted in a possible hate crime. Yesterday, when four teens, a 15-year-old, two 16-year-olds, and a 17-year-old, were arrested, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan said that the investigation so far did not suggest this "was an attempt to intimidate, target or harm the Jewish community." more ›

A Brookings Institution study reveals that New York is a great place for walking, with 21 out of 21 walkable urban places. But Washington D.C. is the most walkable on a per capita basis while New York is ranked 10th, because New York is measured as the NYC metro area, including NJ, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.
