Video: Neil Patrick Harris, Jerry Seinfeld Christen Disney's New Cruise Ship In NYC

[Update Below] Last night the new Disney cruise ship "Fantasy" made its New York City debut, so of course lots of Disney stars showed up. Bloomberg was there, naturally, Jerry Seinfeld did standup ("Oh my god, I'm on a boat. Finally, I get to see what the end of my career will be like.") and Mariah Carey played fairy godmother (why not?). But the treat of the night was surprise host Neil Patrick Harris, who showed up to sing some snarky songs. And not just an obvious "Under the Sea" spoof ("At The Buffet") but also a Mary Poppins-inspired "Super Splashy Synergistic Glitzy Celebration" aimed directly at Disney. more ›

How Much Is Barney Stinson's East 81st Street Apartment?

In the past we've looked at some unrealistic tv show (and movie) apartments, so how does Barney Stinson's Manhattan bachelor pad stack up? The How I Met Your Mother character (played by Neil Patrick Harris) lives the largest amongst the group of friends on the show, and today some people have been wondering how much his apartment costs. more ›

Neil Patrick Harris Company Coming To The Big Screen

Neil Patrick Harris Company Coming To The Big Screen

Last week at Lincoln Center the phones rang, the doors chimed and in came a star-studded Company staged reading whose cast was headlined by Neil Patrick Harris as the bachelor Bobby, whose examinations of marriage center the Stephen Sondheim classic. And it wasn't just Harris up there, stage and screen bold-faced names like Patti LuPone, Stephen Colbert, Christina Hendricks, Martha Plimpton, Anika Noni Rose and Jon Cryer were hoofing it too. The show ran for only four sold-out (and not cheap!) performances, but fret not poor theater fans. If you still desperately want to see Hendricks in her skivvies deciding to go to Barcelona or not (or a topless NPH trying to keep her in town), LuPone toasting the "Ladies Who Lunch," or Colbert and Plimpton as a mock-karate-fighting couple, you've got nothing to worry about. All four productions of the show were filmed and will now be combined into one concert film coming to theaters June 15. more ›

Smurfs Leave Their Village For NYC

It's time to talk Smurfs. The blue creatures who entertained us many a Saturday morning are headed to the big screen, and the movie is currently filming far far away from Smurf Village, right here in NYC. One source explained to the Post, "The Smurfs fall through a portal and end up in Central Park, and Gargamel [Hank Azaria], who's chasing them, follows. Neil Patrick Harris is running in Central Park. The Smurfs end up sneaking into his backpack." more ›

Restaurant Annisa Destroyed by July 4 Fire

Restaurant Annisa Destroyed by July 4 Fire

After an email circulated saying that Barrow Street restaurant Annisa had been "destroyed" by a fire on the morning of July 4, Serious Eats' Ed Levine sent a quick note to Anita Lo, the restaurant's acclaimed chef and owner. It turns out the rumor is true: while no one was present at the time, a fasting moving blaze has in fact destroyed the restaurant. "The fire marshall hasn't come yet, so we don't know what started it," Lo tells Levine. "And yes, we are going to rebuild--hopefully better than before." You may remember that a fire temporarily shut down another restaurant owned by Lo, Bar Q, which has since closed for good. While Annisa does its whole phoenix/flames thing, you can catch Anita Lo compete on this week's Top Chef Masters. Neil Patrick Harris is guest judging. more ›

Will SNL Be the Only Place Left to See Musical Comedy?

Will SNL Be the Only Place Left to See Musical Comedy?

Saturday Night Live took on some of the more overlooked victims of the economic crisis this weekend: the suffering stars of closing Broadway shows. It was one of those SNL sketches that's hard to hate because it gives just about each member of the cast a chance to have fun with whoever they want to play (unless, of course, they were looking to break out their Piv). more ›
