Chef Proud He Threw Lobster at Fussy Diner

Brooklyn chef Neil Ganic doesn't take guff from anybody—not even paying customers. A disgruntled diner shared with Eater a hilarious account of her recent experience at the Carroll Gardens restaurant Petite Crevette, where dinner ended with a crazy outburst from Ganic. After her husband sent back an order of Cioppino (fish stew) because it contained lobster which was "pretty much raw," the kitchen returned a dish that "was still kind of weird and gloopy." The couple then "politely" asked for the check, but "suddenly, Neil Ganic comes running out of the kitchen with a LIVE LOBSTER and throws it on the table." We called Ganic to confirm the story, and his response made us wish more people in the restaurant industry were this much fun:

Restaurant Korhogo 126 Quietly Passes Away in Sleep

The tiny, well-regarded French West African restaurant Korhogo 126 in Carroll Gardens apparently closed its doors for good a couple of weeks ago. Calls to the restaurant are answered with a full mailbox message, and a yellow sign tacked to the front door reads “thank you for all your support,” reports The Word on Columbia Street. You may recall that Korhogo 126 was once called Bouillabaisse 126 back in the day when chef/owner Neil Ganic was on board; Ganic left the business in 2007 (allegedly after “screaming bizarre obscenities in the middle of the sidewalk, muttering to himself incoherently”) then opened La Bouillabaisse in Red Hook and Annabelle’s last year. Both of those establishments have apparenty closed. In the meantime, Korhogo 126’s Abdhul Traore, formerly of Les Enfants Terribles, has presumably moved on to a new restaurant.

La Bouillabaisse, the small red brick restaurant with a neon lobster hanging in the front window and pitted across the street from the monolithic Red Hook IKEA, had a soft opening on Friday night. Regular hours commence later this week.
