Matt Roff & Co. decided not to name their new venue Natural Selection after all...so as Galapagos moves to DUMBO, the space is going to need a moniker that'll stick. And now the naming duties have been handed down to you with their Name Our Space contest.

Matthew Roff isn't just the co-owner of Park Slope venue Southpaw, he also recently opened up Crown Heights's first beer garden, Franklin Park. Not satisfied with that, he also went in as co-owner of the (soon to be) old Galapagos space -- where he'll be opening a new venue called Natural Selection. He recently told us a little about what to expect from the latter space, as it reopens under his control.

Last spring, it was announced that Galapagos was being priced out of their N 6th Street digs in Williamsburg, which the club had inhabited permanently since 1998.

Jeremy Abelson, founder of the luxury lifestyle newsletter Pocket Change, struck a publicity goldmine last February when his company sponsored a speed dating event that matched affluent men of any age with attractive young women of any I.Q. Called “Natural Selection Speed Date: Rich Guys & Hot Girls,” the event drew hate mail from women objecting to the crass, misogynistic nature of this “exercise in eugenics.”
