Denis Dillon, the former Nassau County prosecutor who oversaw the trials of Long Island Lolita Amy Fisher as well as LIRR mass murderer Colin Ferguson, passed away yesterday at age 76 in his Rockville Centre home. He had been battling lymphoma. His daughter told the NY Times, "My father had a passion for justice and public service, and he believed in a professional prosecutor’s office. He strove for fairness, and I guess one of the things is that he was a voice for those that didn’t have one."

Long Island Man Ran "Adoption Ponzi Scheme"
The Nassau County DA's office says that Kevin Cohen of Roslyn charged numerous couples expensive fees—one couple says they paid Cohen $65,000— to adopt children that probably never existed. Now, with 16 couples (and counting) claiming they were duped, it's being characterized as an adoption Ponzi scheme.
DA On Why No Charges For Fake Rape Accuser
After some criticism over why her office didn't press charges against the Hofstra student who falsely accused five men of raping her in a dorm bathroom, Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice explained that her main goal was to get a public admission of guilt, "This is a big deal. You look at the Duke case and at the Tawana Brawley case and you see that those women never admitted to anything."
Debate Over Lack Of Charges For Fake Hofstra Rape Accuser
Last week, Nassau County DA Kathleen Rice announced that the Hofstra student who falsely accused five men of gang raping her in a dorm bathroom would not face criminal charges. Instead, 18-year-old Danmell Ndonye, who is now suspended from the school, later admitted that she had consensual sex with four of the men and agreed to undergo mental health counseling andperform 250 hours of community service. Now, lawyers for two of the falsely accused have differing opinions about Ndonye's "punishment."
Hofstra Student Who Made Up Rape Story "Likely" To Face Charges
Nearly a week after an 18-year-old Hofstra student claimed that five men raped her in a dormitory bathroom—only to later admit the story was fake—the freshman may face charges for her lies, which put four of the "suspects" behind bars for two days.
Man Falsely Accused Of Rape: "Thank God I Filmed It"
The man who was accused of being involved in a gang rape of a Hofstra University student, only for the student to recant her claim and admit the sex was consensual because there was a video of the encounter, is on the cover of the Post today. While Arvin Rivera, an 18-year-old senior at Harry S. Truman HS in The Bronx, was not arrested, he tells the paper, "I was so afraid. Words cannot even begin to describe how I was feeling inside. Thank God I was there. And thank God I filmed it."
