Today is the anniversary of the highest wind speed ever recorded on earth. In 1934 Mount Washington, New Hampshire experienced a wind gust of 231 miles per hour, with sustained winds (over a five minute period) of 186 m.p.h. Winds in severe tornadoes are probably greater than Mount Washington's records, but those winds have either not been measured or the instrument was destroyed by the tornado.

Another storm is headed our way tonight and tomorrow. Unlike the weekend blizzard, this one doesn't have much oomph to it. To quote AccuWeather"not big, but still a storm". The storm will be followed by a couple of days of cold. Gothamist is glad our weather won't be as cold as on top of Mount Washington, where it is currently ten below with winds of 65 miles per hour. After the upcoming cold spell look for gradually warming weather, with temperatures in the 40s by next week.

High of 80, with a 60% chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon, starting around 4PM.
