Cops Bust 3rd And 5th Graders On Weapons Charges

Police arrested two 3rd graders and a 5th grader suspected of bringing a box cutter and a knife to their Bronx elementary school on Wednesday. According to the Post, a school safety agent nabbed a 9-year-old with a box cutter inside P.S. 2 on Franklin Avenue in Morrisania at around 9:30 am. When questioned, the student ratted out his accomplices — an 8-year-old and an 11-year-old — who reportedly were plotting an assault against a faculty member.

Bronx Girl, 15, Shot In Head By Stray Bullet

A 15-year-old Bronx teen, not too far from her school in the Morrisania section, was shot in the head by a stray bullet yesterday afternoon. She had apparently walked into a dispute between two men—the Daily News reports, "As Vada Vasquez underwent emergency brain surgery, cops hunted for a bicycle-riding gunman who fired wildly at a man suspected of being a snitch." The apparent target of the gunfire, a 19-year-old man, was also shot in the abdomen and leg and taken to a hospital.

Police Shoot Armed Man in The Bronx

A man is in critical condition after being shot by an NYPD officer following a chase with cops early Saturday morning. Police approached 47-year-old Jesus Roldan in the Morrisania section of The Bronx around 3:45 a.m. Saturday when they noticed him "shuffling around with his waistband." Roldan quickly bolted and pulled out a gun as he was followed by the two officers along with an undercover trailing in an unmarked car. Officers said that they repeatedly told Roldan to drop the weapon, a claim backed up by a neighbor who spoke to investigators. Eventually Roldan changed course and faced officers, who again told him to put the gun down. When he didn't, one of the cops, a five-year-veteran, shot him three times, once in the torso and once in each arm. Police say Roldan has been arrested eight times since 1985 for robbery, weapons and drugs. A neighbor told the News, "It was loud and clear. I paid no attention to it because it's the Fourth of July."

A 20-year-old was killed while a 13-year-old was wounded during a shooting in the Morrisania section of the Bronx. People heard gunfire outside of 730 East 165th Street around 11:30 p.m.; a man told WCBS 2, "I'm on my way home and I hear a boom, boom, boom. It's not a common thing, but we're used to being careful." When police arrived, they found the two people shot. The 20-year-old was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene while the 13-year-old is in stable condition, with shots in the arm and thigh. No arrests have been made yet.
