Photograph of the Cheyenne's exterior at night by Goggla on Flickr Beloved Chelsea standby, the Cheynne Diner, closed two weeks ago so the site's owner could begin work on a 9-story building that will bring in rental income. But now, regulars can look forward to visiting the diner across the East River in Red Hook! AMNY's Urbanite spoke to preservationist Michael Perlman, who said, "I am elated to report that a contract has been......

We haven't checked in with the somewhat recently relocated Moondance Diner since September. At that time new photos of it in La Barge, Wyoming (the diner's new home) surfaced, and it wasn't lookin' too pretty. Well it just got worse for the wear. Reports are in that last week the diner "simply crumpled under the accumulated weight of snow on its roof." The town clerk says that it's nothing but a heap now, and the......

Last we checked, The Moondance Diner was going to live out the rest of its life in the country. A couple from La Barge, Wyoming purchased it, moved it and declared it would be reopened for the residents of their town. Today NYMag points to Mark's Journal -- the author of which just passed through Le Barge, a place he describes as "a tiny and remote oilfield town, and one of the most desolate......

After a few days of delays, Vincent and Cheryl Pierce were finally able to pick up the Moondance Diner, the Soho standby, and move it back to LaBarge, Wyoming. The diner closed earlier this year after the landlords decided to transform the corner of Sixth Avenue and Grand Street into luxury condos. Developer Extell donated the diner to the American Diner Museum, which then sold the structure to the Pierces for $7,500. The diner's......

The Moondance Diner shut its doors at the end of June at which time it was rumored that it would live out its years at a museum in Pennsylvania. The free-standing diner has changed its path, however, and now it's headed to the small town of La Barge, Wyoming. The NY Sun (and the Jackson Hole Star Tribune) reports that Vincent and Cheryl Pierce purchased the diner from the Rhode Island-based nonprofit American Diner Museum......

The last free-standing diner in Manhattan is closing tomorrow night after 70 years in business, and like many displaced New Yorkers it will be moving to Pennsylvania. The Moondance Diner in SoHo is shuttering, and next month it will be shipped to PA to become part of a museum. The lot where it currently sits is going to become the site of luxury condos. The New York Sun reported the imminent demise of the Moondance......

In the crossroads of the "Can't Beat 'Em, So Join 'Em" chronicles and the "____ Diner, R.I.P." annals, there's is the Moondance Diner. The NY Sun reports the SoHo fixture will be razed for - you guessed it - luxury condos. But that's not all: Moondance owner Sunil "Sunny" Sharma was originally going to sell the property, but decided to develop it himself with Extell's Gary Barnett and others. Plans for a 66,743 square......

This sort of makes us feel better about the mistakes Gothamist makes in our every day life. An FBI agent accidentally fired his gun in front of the Moondance Diner two weeks ago during a bank fraud arrest. Apparently the sting operation got a little dicey when the agent tried to arrest one of the criminals, leading him to draw his gun. But police believe that when the agent went to put his gun back......
