Moondance Diner Reopens in Wyoming Soon!

The summer of 2007 saw the Moondance Diner get uprooted from 6th Avenue only to be hauled off to LeBarge, Wyoming. After a bit of downtime, the NY Times is reporting that the 1920s-era diner is set to reopen next month. Cheryl Pierce and her husband are the new owners, and have had their fair share of "bumps and glitches" to get over while restoring their purchase, but they are currently aiming for a January 9th grand reopening. The Pierce's also have a blog where they track their progress, it was last updated earlier this month with notes on the Alan Bushbaum "glass block" wall and their own "moon room" addition. The Star-Tribune reports that the menu will include traditional diner fare, "burgers, meatloaf, homemade fries and milkshakes/malts from an antique soda fountain"—you'll just have to travel 2400 miles to get it.

Beloved Chelsea standby, the Cheynne Diner, closed two weeks ago so the site's owner could begin work on a 9-story building that will bring in rental income. But now, regulars can look forward to visiting the diner across the East River in Red Hook!

We haven't checked in with the somewhat recently relocated Moondance Diner since September. At that time new photos of it in La Barge, Wyoming (the diner's new home) surfaced, and it wasn't lookin' too pretty. Well it just got worse for the wear.

Last we checked, The Moondance Diner was going to live out the rest of its life in the country. A couple from La Barge, Wyoming purchased it, moved it and declared it would be reopened for the residents of their town.

The Moondance Diner shut its doors at the end of June at which time it was rumored that it would live out its years at a museum in Pennsylvania. The free-standing diner has changed its path, however, and now it's headed to the small town of La Barge, Wyoming.

The last free-standing diner in Manhattan is closing tomorrow night after 70 years in business, and like many displaced New Yorkers it will be moving to Pennsylvania. The Moondance Diner in SoHo is shuttering, and next month it will be shipped to PA to become part of a museum. The lot where it currently sits is going to become the site of luxury condos. The New York Sun reported the imminent demise of the Moondance back in February and noted the diner's end as emblematic of the westward expansion of the fashionable SoHo district.

In the crossroads of the "Can't Beat 'Em, So Join 'Em" chronicles and the "____ Diner, R.I.P." annals, there's is the Moondance Diner. The NY Sun reports the SoHo fixture will be razed for - you guessed it - luxury condos. But that's not all: Moondance owner Sunil "Sunny" Sharma was originally going to sell the property, but decided to develop it himself with Extell's Gary Barnett and others.
