Earlier this week, a pipe bomb was found in the driveway outside a Montclair, NJ home, and the street's homes were evacuated because, as the NY Times reports, "It turned out to be a foot-long, two-inch-diameter pipe packed with enough explosive powder and nuts and bolts to hurt and possibly kill someone." Pipe Bomb Discovered On Montclair, NJ Home's Lawn

At 7 a.m. this morning, police and fire officials evacuated residents from a Montclair, NJ street after a "pipe bomb wrapped in a plastic newspaper bag was found this morning on the front lawn of" one home. According to the Montclair Times, "After two attempts, a bomb squad detonated the device, made of a pipe with a 2-inch diameter that had wires protruding from it," with an audience of neighbors watching from past the police's security tape. A neighbor said the home where the device was found "belongs to a couple with a baby girl that has resided at that address for about two years. She did not know the homeowners' names." more ›

Man Suspected of Fatal NJ Shooting Found in Brooklyn

The man believed to have shot his estranged wife at a YMCA in Montclair, NJ--in front of his daughter--was apprehended in Brooklyn yesterday. Police had been looking for Kenneth Duckett for the past 12 days, and a tip was called in leading them to an apartment in Flatbush. Duckett is awaiting extradition to NJ; Essex County prosecutor Paula Dow said, "He's been formally charged with murder and various weapons offenses. Bail has been set at one million dollars." more ›
