Bronx Cop Hits Pregnant Woman's Car, Drives Away

Bronx resident Sanija Kurtovic is eight months pregnant, and she got quite a scare the other day when her parked car was sideswiped as she was about to get out. But what's even scarier is that the vehicle that hit her was an NYPD cruiser, and the driver allegedly fled the scene. Kurtovic says that after her car was hit, she ran up to Officer Shirley Perez-Romero, who was stopped at a red light. But the cop allegedly played dumb, acting as if she didn't realize an accident had occured. Kurtovic says the officer told her she would do a U-turn and file a report, but instead Officer Perez-Romero just drove off.

Man Who Impersonated Dead Mom Is Creepier Than You Thought

The story of the Park Slope man who dressed like his dead mother for six years to cash her Social Security checks and collect other benefits has captivated the world, with Google showing the Thomas Prusik-Parkin Psycho tale popping up as far afield as Turkey and Russia. Perhaps there's something about the story that resonates with humanity's deep-seated Oedipal urges—or maybe Prusik-Parkin has just tapped into our universal fantasy to live on the dole without our moms' nagging us to get a job. Either way, it gets creepier: The Daily News reports today that Prusik-Parkin kept a casket in his living room.

Man Masquerades As Dead Mom To Cash Social Security Checks

For six years, 49-year-old Thomas Prusik-Parkin of Brooklyn disguised himself as his deceased mother so he could collect some $115,000 in Social Security and rent subsidies, police sources tell the Daily News. After being busted for the elaborate scam on Monday, Prusik-Parkin reportedly told detectives, "I held my mother when she was dying and breathed in her last breath, so I am my mother." And if you think that's creepy, take a look at his mug shot!

Cops: Angry Mom Directed Craigslist Sex Seekers to Neighbor

Step aside Scarsdale Mad Mom—a new case study in dysfunctional parenting has surfaced on Long Island, where Suffolk police have arrested a Hauppauge woman who they say used a fake "Casual Encounters" ad on Craigslist to direct nearly two dozen calls from horny men to her neighbor's home phone number. Why would she do this? Because she was allegedly trying to get revenge on the neighbor's 9-year-old daughter, who'd been fighting with her own child. 40-year-old Margery Tannenbaum was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated harassment for giving out the phone number in February to desperate Craigslist Casanovas looking for an NSA good time. Her lawyer tells Newsday, "My view on this is it's gone way too far. She's a good woman. She's a good wife. She's really a good person. I just can't see why anyone would want to put this in the news media... if the interest is about the children, which it should be. We're looking forward to our day in court." Oh, so are we!

Joba's Estranged Mom Arrested In Nebraska

Yesterday, police in Lincoln, Nebraska said that the estranged mother of Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain was "arrested on charges of selling methamphetamine to an undercover police officer in February." Jacqueline Standley, 44, allegedly sold a gram of a meth-like substance (for $110) to a cop back in February. After tests confirmed it was meth, she was arrested over the weekend and her bail was set at $5,000. She previously said that her depression and trouble with drugs prompted her to let Chamberlain's father raise him and his sister; “No. I wasn’t the greatest mother. But in the bad choices I made, I in turn made good choices. And one was for them to be with their dad a lot.” Chamberlain, who says he hasn't spoken to her in a while, told the Daily News, "You've only got one mom, man, and you've got to be thankful for her. I still love her." Random fact: Standley appeared in the same courtroom where Chamberlain pleaded guilty to his October DUI.

Suburban Mom Takes Kids To School, Arrested For DWI

A woman is suspected of being drunk as she was taking her children to school. The AP reports that this arrest, in Putnam County's Mahopac is "one of several recent arrests involving mothers in the northern New York City suburbs." The AP's hall of fame includes the incident about a woman who left her "1-year-old asleep in a locked, running car" while she was shopping in Yorktown" and Madlyn Primoff, the lawyer who dumped her kids on a White Plains road because they were arguing. We'd also like to add the arrest of Nicole Marty, who crashed her car with her daughter aboard—she was suspected of being under the influence of drugs AND flipped off the cops in her mugshot. People, it's tough out there to be a mom!

Judge Dismisses Call for New Trial By "Undercover" Brooklyn Mom

A judge is not pleased with the 46-year-old Brooklyn mother who posed as a "sexy" 30-something to win the confidence of a juror who helped put away her son for 25 years to life. Yesterday Supreme Court Justice Alan Marrus threw out a motion filed by Doreen Giuliano, who repeatedly smoked pot and drank wine with former juror Jason Allo, recording conversations which she says proves he lied during jury selection about knowing the defendants. Giuliano's son John Giuca was ultimately convicted, along with another young man, in the murder of a Fairfield college student in 2003 during a long night of partying in Ditmas Park.

Real Brooklyn Housewives Talk Smack

Some non-reality-television Brooklyn moms are talking smack about Alex McCord, the face of the borough on Bravo's Real Housewives of New York (and one half of the creepiest couple to ever exist). One Carroll Gardens housewife l'accuse, “She doesn’t hang out in our circles. I’ve never seen her in the park, and I’ve just about had a play date with every mom in the neighborhood." Not that we're taking McCord's side here, but, maybe it's because up until recently she actually had a job? Or maybe it's because there are a lot of people in Brooklyn? C'mon Daily News, pitting stay-at-home mom bloggers against D-list reality stars is sort of lose-lose, no? Okay, one did say, “I’m worried about putting dinner on the table and they’re worried about what to wear to Puffy’s White Party," but that burn is so four years ago.

Undercover Brooklyn Mom Fighting for Son's Freedom Proved Nothing, DA Says

A 46-year-old Brooklyn mother who posed as a "sexy" 30-something California transplant in order to win the confidence of a juror from her son's trial has not proven the need for a new trial, prosecutors say. You may recall the story: Doreen Giuliano, whose son John Giuca was convicted in the murder of a Fairfield college student in 2003 during a long night of partying in Ditmas Park, learned that one of the jurors, Jason Allo, knew some of her son's friends, a fact he withheld during the trial. So she slimmed down, dyed her hair, and rented an apartment near Allo in order to befriend him.

In his first public comments since being questioned by London police on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting his mother and sister, Christian Bale today asked the press to respect his “privacy,” which – given the current Dark Knight media saturation – is respected about as much as Princess Di’s privacy in the summer of ’97. The latest tabloid take on the altercation has it that Bale’s sister Sharon, a computer programmer with three kids, was pressuring Bale for a $200,000 loan in his hotel suite the night before the London premiere.

More details (and by details we mean gossip) have emerged on the Christian Bale arrest yesterday. The tabloids and TMZ have talked to an anonymous friend and are reporting that the heated shouting match that erupted in Bale’s hotel suite Sunday night was sparked by a disparaging comment made by his mother about his wife, Sandra (Sibi) Blazic. Says the friend:

Christian was stressed, but he didn't lay a finger on anyone. Instead, he flew off the handle and cussed his mother. He just got very loud because his mother was saying some very outrageous things about him, and his wife. He has stresses in his marriage He can have a terrible temper. Instead of lashing out at his wife, he sometimes lashes out at people around him. His marriage is not perfect, but his relationship with his mother is in much more trouble.
TMZ has it that Bale’s relationship with his mother, a former circus clown named Jenny James, has been “bitter” ever since he moved to L.A. as a boy with his father after his parents’ divorce: “Christian's camp thinks this could be nothing more than a shakedown. We're told some newspapers and mags have already been throwing around ‘insane’ amounts of money for the story, so mom and sis could score big.”

While in London over the weekend to attend The Dark Knight premiere, Welsh actor Christian Bale was arrested after his 61-year-old mother and 40-year-old sister reported him to the police for assaulting them on Sunday night in his suite at London's Dorchester Hotel, on the eve of the premiere. Bale is still being held by police, but the Guardian has it that he was temporarily released from custody to attend the premiere, do interviews and other important stuff that puts movie stars above the law. It’s also unclear what sparked the alleged assault, but Bale’s mother is rumored to be a huge Michael Keaton fan.

Derek Jeter's mom is claiming that her son wouldn't cheat on his taxes, days after the NY State Dept. of Taxation and Finance claimed that the Yankees captain owed the state hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars in back taxes. Jeter says that his primary residence is in Florida, which doesn't have a state income tax. He does, however, live in the Trump World Plaza building on 1st Ave., across from the United...
