Yesterday, Notify NYC alerted people, "U.S. military aircraft are scheduled to perform 3 separate flyovers near the Statue of Liberty on Oct 22nd at 11AM, 1PM and 2PM," but then followed up today with, "The military aircraft flyovers of the Statue of Liberty scheduled for today, October 22 have been cancelled." But there will be "a low flying helicopter flight over City Hall Park in Manhattan today, October 22 between the hours of 5 PM and 8 PM for a film shoot."

Notify NYC says, "A military aircraft will be flying down the Hudson River landing at LaGuardia Airport in Queens today at approximately 11:15 AM. This is a planned event, you may see this low flying aircraft in the area."
Heads Up: Military Plane To Fly Over Verrazano, Hudson
Naval plane EA-6B Prowler will be flying over the Verrazano Narrows Bridge and then up the Hudson River this morning between 9:30 and 10 a.m. The Post says the NYPD "issued the alert late yesterday"—too late for NotifyNYC to issue a warning? Update 8:08 a.m.: NotifyNYC just issued a warning! Anyway, the Navy's Fact File about the Prowler says the plane "provides an umbrella of protection for strike aircraft, ground troops and ships by jamming enemy radar, electronic data links and communications."
Heads Up: Vintage Military Aircraft Overhead Today
From NotifyNYC: "You may see three vintage military aircraft fly at low altitude over the New York Harbor today for the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The planes will fly between the Verrazano Bridge and the George Washington Bridge."
Heads Up: Military Flyover Today For Veterans Day Parade
For today's 90th Veterans Day Parade, the city alerts us that "a 21-gun salute and a military flyover featuring two military helicopters are scheduled to occur on Nov. 11 starting at 11:00 am on East 26th, 27th, & 29th Streets between Park Avenue South, Broadway, & Madison Avenue." This year, organizers are expecting 27,000 people for the parade, which starts at 11 a.m. at Fifth Avenue at 23rd Street and heads north to 57th Street; there is a wreath-laying commemoration ceremony at 10 a.m. in Madison Square Park. Among the parade participants will be Navajo Code Talkers from World War II.
Heads Up: Cannon Will Fire For USS New York Today
Today, the USS New York, which was partly made from World Trade Center steel, will be officially commissioned as a naval warship today and besides the military flyover, there's also going to be a cannon firing repeatedly: "During the Commissioning of the USS New York at Pier 86 & 88 in Manhattan on 11/7/09 at approx. 11 AM, the Sewell's Point Weapons Detachment will fire a cannon in honor of the senior officials attending the ceremony. You may hear 19 consecutive loud bangs at this time." The ship will be open to visitors tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday.

FYI, those planes may be for Federer-del Potro: "Today at 4pm, U.S. military planes may be performing a flyover in conjunction with the start of the finals for the US OPEN in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. You may see low flying aircraft in the area." And a tipster says, "The flyover will include approximately 4 - F15E Fighter Planes."
