Mets 8, Cubs 1: Jorge Sosa doesn't want to leave the big-league rotation, and he probably won't have to. He threw seven innings of one-hit shutout ball. Damion Easley socked his sixth home run, and the Mets got to Cubs lefty Rich Hill, one of the bright spots in the National League this season. The two teams waited three hours, 15 minutes to get this game in, and they have to play a day game Thursday.
Wizards 99, Knicks 98: What good is shutting down Gilbert Arenas if the rest of the team torches you? Arenas is the hottest player in the league right now, but the Knicks should keep the self-congratulations to a minimum. Arenas only scored 16, but Antawn Jamison (21) and Caron Butler (26) more than picked up the slack. The Knicks and the Nets face off at the Garden on Friday.
Hurricanes 4, Islanders 2: One local losing streak fades, another one grows. The Islanders have now lost six straight. They also gave up three goals in 4 minutes, 29 seconds.
Devils 2, Islanders 0: Well, the Islanders love their shutouts. Their last four games have seen one team held scoreless, but over the last two games, that team has been the Islanders. Meanwhile, the Devils are rolling, and their three-game win streak has helped them lead the division by five points.

The Nets are facing down a lost season, but all is not lost yet.
