When Will Penn Station Get Metro-North Service?

When Will Penn Station Get Metro-North Service?

The MTA is taking seriously a proposal to bring Metro-North and 28,000 more commuters to Penn Station. Trains on the Hudson and New Haven lines would use existing Amtrak lines to service the West Side, but the LIRR would be forced to cut some service to make room for Metro-North, a move that advocates for the plan say is only fair given that the LIRR will serve Grand Central in 2018. Naturally, some (read: Long Islanders) are skeptical. "It's the old saying," the executive director for the Association for a Better Long Island tells Newsday. "Once it's gone, it's gone forever." Yet this assertion was famously disproved by the McRib and the Mickey Rourke Accords of 2005. more ›

Mickey Rourke's "Loki Necklace" Created by Queens Resident

Seen at the Golden Globes: One Bird

It was a touching, comeback moment when Mickey Rourke won the Golden Globe for Best Actor (in a Drama) for his role in The Wrestler. But when Rourke gave his acceptance speech, he not only thanked director Darren Aronosky, but he also busted his chops—to the point where Aronofsky gave Rourke the finger. Clearly, Aronofsky, a Brooklyn native, was smart enough to know that you can't censor a hand gesture. (And it's not even censored from the clip below!) more ›

Last year's surprises included performances by David Cross, Nick Swardson, Jon Benjamin, and Jon Glaser. With such a line up, the event is certainly a night not to be missed. Gothamist got a hold of Patton to get his opinion on some of his past roles, politics, and where he likes to eat when he's in town. more ›

Mickey Rourke Much More Like Michael Scott Than Previously Thought

Mickey Rourke Much More Like Michael Scott Than Previously Thought

That guy was screaming at the top of his lungs. Then he wants me to shake his hand. I said, “You’re drunk. I’m not gonna shake your hand.” But he kept pressing the issue, so I told the owner, “If he touches me, I’m gonna punch him in his fuckin’ mouth.” So the waiters tossed him out. He was really, really out of control—some big fuckin’ obnoxious fag. more ›
