Comic book creator Harvey Pekar, who serialized his life in a series of critically-acclaimed graphic novels, was found dead by his wife Joyce Brabner shortly before 1 a.m. today in his Cleveland home, Cleveland.com reports. In 2003, Pekar's life and work were dramatized in the excellent film American Splendor (starring Paul Giamatti), and he described the comics as "a series of day-after-day activities that have more influence on a person than any spectacular or traumatic events. It's the 99 percent of life that nobody ever writes about."

Boom Fight, or the First Vlog-o-War
The vlogosphere has its first shake-up: Rocketboom's Amanda Congden was, in her words, unboomed (she has a video, natch). Wanting to set the record straight after Rocketboom showed a week of non-Amanda clips, she says that her Rocketboom partner - and owner of a 51% share in Rocketboom - Andrew Baron fired her and she actually starts to get teary in the video. ValleyWag says she seems much realer in this clip or "it's a hoax and Congdon's finally learned how to act."

Malice went on to found his own version of the site As we're no fan of blog-beef, we were glad to hear that the guys settled their feud yesterday:

Our Favorite Animals: NYC Bloggeurs
Animal Magazine's 6th Issue comes out this week-- and Bucky was nice enough to messenger us over a copy, since we unfortunately missed Animal's "Save Krucoff" themed party at BLVD on Wednesday night. The magazine is beatuiful and glossy and filled with pictures of scantily clad girls-- but we were interested in one feature in particular: a series of interviews with some of our NYC blog colleagues.
