For the Giants the final week of the regular season is all about questions. Will they start their regulars on Saturday night? Should they start their regulars? Does it even matter if they do start them? In any other year the answers would be clear; send the starters out for a quarter and then get everyone off the field and rested for next week’s playoff game. But, this is not an ordinary week, this is a chance to stop history by beating the undefeated Patriots scream some pundits.
What Will The Giants Do?
Little Bronx Hero Meets His Own Bronx Hero
The Bronx kid who thwarted burglars threatening his family last week got to meet his own personal hero yesterday. When armed men burst into Edwin Alamo's home last week screaming for everyone to "Get the f– down!", the quick-thinking 12-year-old grabbed a cell phone, climbed out a second-story window, scrambled across a rooftop, and then hid in an abandoned building where he called the police. The burglars had a shootout with the cops shortly thereafter in which two were wounded and all three arrested.
Jets Hang Around But Fall to Patriots
Few teams can shrug off a playoff loss to a bitter rival and immediately accept their season as a success. The Jets may not be able to do that in the wake of their 37-16 loss to the Patriots in an AFC wild-card playoff Sunday, but they have no reason to hang their heads. New York entered this game knowing as an overmatched squad, but it still made New England sweat before being buried in the fourth quarter.
King Henrik
Maybe the Rangers starting thinking about tonight’s game against the Devils because after establishing the lead they sat back on their heels and let the Bruins back into the game. For the last period and overtime they relied on Henrik Lundqvist to make bug saves and bail out a shaky defensive effort.
