We'd rather see ice inside of a museum than falling from the sky, so we fully support the Rubin Museum of Art’s interactive ice installation! Artist Atta Kim has sculpted a 5-foot, 1,300-pound ice Buddha, which will be unveiled tomorrow at 6 p.m., after which time the museum will be open for 24 hours so that visitors can interact with the installation.

Melted Snow Reveals Rotting Memories, Frozen Dog Waste
This week, as the snow melted, the big reveal was caught on film. So if you've been wondering just what happens when garbage is frozen in time, here's your answer. These relics from 2010—when things we're simpler until Blizzadgeddon broke our spirits—likely haven't seen the light of day since late December or early January... and they've made some new friends while in hiding. As PBS.org recalls, "approximately 11,000 tons of trash per day were being piled onto city sidewalks and not being collected," which was then topped with "more snow, discarded furniture, rotting food, even more snow and doggie waste from irresponsible owners."
Sony Building Owners Fined After Glass Falls From Atrium
The owners of the Sony Building at 550 Madison Avenue were fined $25,000—for failure to maintain the building— after glass panels in its atrium fell during a Saturday night Purim party. Fifteen people suffered minor injuries and workers were seen trying to repair the roof yesterday. According to the NY Times, "ice fell from the 32nd floor of the 37-floor high-rise... striking two three-feet by five-feet glass panels at about midnight." The Daily News says the glass panels then fell 80 feet.
Fight Breast Cancer, Set World Record, Eat Free Gelato Tomorrow
Just a heads up that tomorrow the new Manhattan location of gelato and crepe chain Melt will be trying to set the world record for the most cups of gelato served in a single day. If you'd like to help the company achieve its goal, head over to Melt at 1053 2nd Avenue, between 55th and 56th Streets, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow. The lines for these kinds of giveaways can sometimes make one question whether its worth the time investment, but since Melt is going for the world record, maybe they'll be cranking out the gelato fast enough to keep things moving briskly?
