Governor Paterson once again told America Sunday that he has every intention of running to remain in office next year, but he made it even clearer that he has no intention of escalating or even drawing out his ongoing public feud with the White House. Paterson sat down with David Gregory during where the governor spent most of his ten minutes on the national stage refusing to go into the controversy that undoubtedly prompted the show to invite him on in the first place.

President Obama was on this morning, sitting down with David Gregory. The topics were what you'd expect: the extreme tone that the health care debate has taken on, how it's not about race, who he's predicting to win the World Series, if there's a deadline on Afghanistan, etc. Wait wait, was the president once again lured into being a chatty Cathy on plebian topics one again, just days after he called Kanye West " a jackass"?

NBC News' White House correspondent David Gregory was officially named moderator of "Meet the Press." When moderator Tim Russert died of a heart attack over the summer, former NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw was tapped as interim moderator as the network deliberated on a replacement. Those rumored to be on the list included NBC News' Gregory, Andrea Mitchell and Chuck Todd, as well as PBS's Gwen Ifill, but in recent days, it was leaked that NBC News was leaning towards Gregory. The 38-year-old, who appeared on MTP this morning, said, "I’m honored and deeply humbled as I take on this role. I’m filled with a great sense of purpose as I join a superb team to cover Washington and the world from a treasured platform in our country. Above all, I want to make Tim proud.” Gregory will continue on as a Today Show contributor and back-up dancer.

Mayor Bloomberg appeared on Meet the Press to talk the economy, and he said Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson was the right man for the job (for right now). Bloomberg also touted more transparency, "The first thing we need is more disclosure, visibility. The problem is that nobody knows what any institution owns and what the terms of the securities they own are and what they are worth. If that was out in the public domain then there wouldn't be this crisis of confidence."

NBC News just announced that retired Nightly News anchor and eminence grise Tom Brokaw will moderate "Meet the Press" through the 2008 election. NBC News president Steve Capus said, "A lot has been said in recent days about what 'Meet the Press' means to NBC News and to the nation. To have someone of Tom's stature step up and dedicate himself to ensuring its ongoing success is not only a testament to his loyalty to Tim, but his enduring commitment to NBC News and our viewers."
