Life Sentence For Slain Dentist's Wife

Before being sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her estranged husband, Dr. Mazoltuv Borukhova (pictured, near right) told a judge, "I repeat myself again and again. I had nothing to do with this murder. I didn't kill anybody." Borukhova was found guilty of killing dentist Daniel Malakov (pictured, far right) last month. A jury believed she conspired to have her cousin by marriage kill Malakov so she could regain custody of their daughter. Malakov was gunned down in a playground as he was dropping their four-year-old daughter to Borkhova; a homemade silencer found at the scene had fingerprints matching those of Borukhova's cousin, who was also convicted and sentenced to life in prison. Their daughter Michelle has been living with her father's brother and his family; Gavriel Malakov told the Daily News, "Will Michelle ever stop having these nightmares that are full of the events that took place on that sunny, crisp morning when she personally witnessed her father being gunned down? Will she ever have those sweet dreams that typical 6-year-olds have?"

The man accused of killing his niece's ex-husband at a Queens playground last fall sat down for jailhouse interview and emphasized he's innocent. Mikahil Mallayev, a resident of Georgia but is now being held at Rikers, spoke to WCBS 2's Scott Weinberger.

If you're being arraigned for allegedly threatening the brother of the man your sister is accused of killing, should you really be yelling at the judge? That's what Natella Natanova did yesterday and she was removed from court.

The family and friends of slain dentist Daniel Malakov yelled at murder suspect Mikhail Mallayev (pictured) in a Queens courtroom yesterday. Malakov was gunned down last year when he was dropping off his daughter to his ex-wife at a Queens playground. His brother yelled, "Hang him up!" as other yelled "Shoot him!" and "Take off his head!" when Mallayev left.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly announced this morning that they had arrested a suspect in the murder of orthodontist Daniel Malakov. Kelly said that the suspect, Mikhail Mallayev, was a relative (by marriage) of Malakov's ex-wife. Malakov was shot in the chest after just after dropping his 4-year-old daughter Michelle to his ex-wife at a Queens playground on Sunday morning. He and his wife, Dr. Mazeltuv Borukhova, had been embroiled in a bitter divorce and custody...

The daughter of Daniel Malakov, the orthodontist who was killed on a playground by a gunman wielding a pistol with a homemade silencer, has been placed in foster care. The girl's physician mother and her family are suspects in the Queens-man's murder. Malakov was shot in front of his daughter in a Queens playground just six days after he'd gained legal custody of his daughter following a bitter custody dispute. A judge at the Queens...

Cops have a suspect in the shooting of orthodontist dad Daniel Malakov and released a sketch of his playground shooter. Malakov was killed by a gunman who shot him at point blank range with a pistol; the shooting left a handmade silencer fashioned from a bleach bottle wrapped in duct tape. The killing is believed to be related to a bitter custody dispute between Malakov and his ex-wife Mazoltuv Borukhova. Because the murder took place...

The custody battle over Michelle Malakov, a 4-year-old who witnessed her father being shot to death at a Queens playground, continued in Queens Family Court. And the testimony of State Senator Diane Savino underlined how the dispute between the slain man's family and his ex-wife has gone almost full-tilt crazy. Queens dentist Daniel Malakov had been awarded temporary custody of his daughter for about a week. On October 28, he was dropping her off to...

Last Sunday morning, Daniel Malakov was fatally shot three times in the chest just after dropping off his daughter to his ex-wife, Marina Borukhova. While the police have no suspects in his murder, much attention has been drawn to contentious custody battle he had with Borukhova over their 5-year-old daughter Michelle. And with his death, the fight has gotten messier. Malakov had been given temporary custody of Michelle just before his death. The child was...

Thrilled that he'd finally won custody of his five-year-old daughter Michelle after a bitter custody battle, orthodontist Michael Malakov asked his father to snap a few pictures of him and his girl just a few minutes before he was killed on a Queens playground. Both the Daily News and the New York Post feature the pictures today, with slideshows of the final photos of Michelle, her cousins, and Malakov.

Police suspect that the daytime murder of a Queens orthodontist may be related to the custody of his daughter. A long and bitter divorce battle had granted temporary custody of five-year-old Michelle to 34-year-old orthodontist Daniel Malakov. The doctor was dropping his daughter off to his ex-wife when someone shot him three times point blank in the chest.
