David Laffer Pleads Guilty Killing Four At Long Island Pharmacy
The 33-year-old Army veteran accused of fatally shooting four people at a Long Island pharmacy in an attempt to steal thousands of prescription drugs has pleaded guilty this morning. David Laffer pleaded guilty to five counts of first-degree murder in the killings (one of the counts is for multiple murders) and Newsday reports, "Laffer's attorney said his client wanted to bring closure to the families of the victims. Laffer also pleaded guilty to four counts of criminal use of a weapon."
LI Pharmacy Massacre Suspect Expected To Plead Guilty
David Laffer, the 33-year-old man accused of killing four people at a Medford, Long Island pharmacy before robbing the store of over 10,000 hydrocodone pills and other prescription drugs, will plead guilty, according to Newsday's sources. Laffer has a court date tomorrow, and Newsday reports, "Laffer is expected to plead guilty as charged before Suffolk County Court Judge James Hudson. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole."

Anders Behring Breivik, the man who confessed "to the factual circumstances" of the coordinated attacks on Norway's government headquarters and a youth retreat, is currently being detained in solitary confinement for eight weeks, but his lawyer has implied that he may seek an insanity plea for his "very cold" client: "This whole case has indicated that he's insane. He expects that this is a start of war that will last for 60 years, but his mind is very...well, I don't want to comment more on his mind, but that's what he believes," attorney Geir Lippestad told reporters yesterday.

Yesterday, a usually quiet Upper West Side street was rocked by violence when a man allegedly shot and killed three members of a family—a father, his son and a grandfather— and injured another before falling to his death from an Amsterdam Avenue apartment between 82nd and 83rd Streets. And it's believed that shooting suspect Herbert Quinones knew the father from their times in state prison.
Fort Hood Shooter May Have Been On FBI's Radar
The army psychiatrist who killed 13 people and wounded 31 at Fort Hood yesterday may have come to the attention of the FBI at least six months ago, because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats. One posting on the website Scribd was attributed to Nidal Hasan, but investigators have not yet been able to confirm that the writer is Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the 39-year-old who was apprehended after yesterday's massacre.
