Last night, actress Mary Louise Parker was on Late Show with David Letterman, revealing that she's been worrying about that feared scourge, bedbugs. But Letterman didn't seem very convinced they were a real threat, asking, "Is it that treacherous? Is it that dire?... What's the worst that can happen if you have bedbugs?" Oh, Dave, if you only knew!

As if to prove a point that LES vegan bakery Babycakes is both a little bit rock and roll and a little bit frosting, chef/owner Erin McKenna and team Babycakes have released a high-def trailer for their upcoming cookbook, wherein the shop becomes a de facto, Joan Jettified site of a girl power and gluten-free frolic. Badass. The four-year-old spot is not only kosher vegan, but most of its recipes substitute agave for refined sugar and are (of course) gluten-free. Coconut oil is used in placed of butter, and Jason Schwartzman apparently approves, as do others. Babycakes the book is blurbed by Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschanel; its foreword was written by none other than Tom Colicchio. Babycakes also supplied the starch-modified blueberry pie eaten by Norah Jones in Wong Kar Wai’s little-seen My Blueberry Nights (recipe here). The Telegraph has an interview and more recipes from McKenna, and includes this nugget about the shop’s sugar-dairy-frosting: “Some people just come in for a $1.50 frosting shot that they can knock back like a tequila, or a 12oz take-out tub to devour at home.” Babycakes will be published May 5; Babycakes' Twitter, for fresh-baked updates, here.

It was announced today that the upcoming Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls will star Gilmore Girls actress Lauren Graham! She'll be making her Broadway debut as Miss Adelaide, the fiancée of Nathan Detroit, to be played by Oliver Platt. The Frank Loesser musical originally debuted in 1950; it'll be back in February. In other Broadway casting news, Michael Cerveris and the Off Broadway favorite Paul Sparks have joined the cast of Christopher Shinn's "new interpretation" of Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabler at the Roundabout in January. Mary-Louise Parker will play the title role, with Cerveris as her boring husband and Sparks as his academic rival. Also, the less boldface casting was just announced for the anticipated revival of West Side Story in February.

Some Greenwich Village-residing celebs are finding their garbage is a goldmine for one outdoor prowler. The NY Post notes that one recent victim is Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker -- and they report on the invasion of privacy by printing what the garbage gossip found, naturally. In an anonymous letter, it says the actress fills prescriptions for an underactive thyroid at Bigelow Pharmacy on 6th Avenue (good to know she pays her co-pay $20 at a time, just like the rest of us). Other famous targets have included Charlie Rose and Graydon Carter...perhaps this snoop should start sifting through the younger Hollywood set in order to come up with something a little more scandalous than legally prescribed goiter medication?

It's all about Brokeback these days: This morning, Kate Beckinsale, Mark Wahlberg, and Steve Carrell announced the 63rd Annual Golden Globe nominations, and Brokeback Mountain walked away with 7 nominations, including Best Picture (Drama), Director, Actor, Supporting Actress (Michelle Williams). Match Point, the unreleased Woody Allen movie, also got nods in Picture and Director, plus Supporting Actress Scarlett Johnanssen. As for the TV nominations, the ladies of Wisteria Lane took four leading actress nominations, giving Weeds' Mary Louise Parker a good shot of winning, though Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross were fierce this year. We do want to say this, though: Kristen Bell, you were robbed!

And then there is New York's "Cultural Elite" section, where they name their favorite New Yorkers and various entertainment offerings in TV, music, movies, etc. - which is amusing to see, if only to learn that TV critic John Leonard loves Mary Louise Parker a hell of a lot and that Jack White is good theater. So, next week, we expect not to relate so much.
