Amy Winehouse's family and friends gathered for a private funeral at a North London synagogue yesterday to pay tribute to the R&B singer who was found dead in her apartment on Saturday. According to People, Winehouse's father Mitch, who is a jazz musician, gave a "funny" eulogy, "telling stories about her childhood, people were laughing like a celebration." Winehouse's friend Kelly Osbourne was spotted in attendance, as was producer of Back to Black Mark Ronson. Carole King's "So Far Away" played at the close of the ceremony, and "Mitch encouraged everyone to sing to it and they did." Winehouse's family then traveled to another location to have her body cremated, per family custom.

Fashion Week Begins, Lohan Causes Commotion
If you haven't noticed yet, Fashion Week kicked off in New York on Friday. Yesterday the Humane Society teamed up with Charlotte Ronson for the fur-free designer's first Bryant Park showing. Before the first look came down the runway, however, her sister Samantha stole the show with her favorite accessory by her side: Lindsay Lohan. The paparazzi, crazed interns and everyone with a camera swarmed and nearly turned the duo into runway roadkill.
Dylan in Brooklyn, Sort Of
Following a Craigslist post from last week, a Bob Dylan video was shot yesterday in Williamsburg. Dylan wasn't there, but a look-a-like was on hand along with a ton of faux-hippies. The posting called for:
- Men and women in their 20s-40s who are fans of Bob Dylan. Prefer people who embody the style of the 1960s, 70s or 80s (i.e. hippies, disco dancers, punks), but we are open to anyone who is a fan of Dylan and wants to be in his music video.more ›

MUSIC: There's no better way to end the week by heading over to the Seaport Music Festival on a Friday evening. Sit on the pier with a glass of wine and watch some bands as the sun goes down. The water and ships provide the perfect summer backdrop. Tonight Fujiya & Miyagi will get you moving with some dance beats and Black Moth Super Rainbow will stick to the synth-rock.
Coolfer's Music Picks
Well, the Siren Music Festival is over and we have to go back to actually paying for our live music--most of the time. The next week is filled with great shows, and a handfull of them are either free or require a very small donation. Gotta love NYC in the summer!
