Boogergate! As if yesterday's loss wasn't enough of an embarrassment, CBS cameras caught Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez wiping his nose and then wiping his hand on backup QB Mark Burnell's jacket. The "pick" has of course been inspiring numerous puns on Twitter. Yuks include, "Mark Sanchez should avoid these picks," "the new dirty Sanchez," and, "Dirty Sanchez sure knows how to pick a winner. It took four week, but the Giants’ defense finally showed up. The New York defense held Washington to only 164 net yards and most importantly, only 3-for-11 on third down conversions. The pass rush finally showed up too, getting three sacks and putting a lot of pressure on Mark Brunell in the 19-3 victory.
Pro Bowl Rosters Announced
The NFL announced the rosters for the Pro Bowl on Wednesday and six local players made it. Michael Strahan, Osi Umenyiora, Tiki Barber, Jeremy Shockey and David Tyree will represent the Giants while Ty Law will represent the Jets.
Winning for "The Duke"
The Giants played their first game ever without Wellington Mara as a member of the team and provided a reminder of the ingredients that made them great through the years, a suffocating defense and a punishing running game that led to a 36-0 victory over the Washington Redskins.
Giants-Redskins Preview
It should be a bruising battle when the Redskins come to town for a clash with the Giants Sunday at 1pm. Washington is 4-2 thanks to a strong defense and the rejuvenated Mark Brunell. Former Jet, Santana Moss, is having a stellar season averaging almost 20 yards a catch with five TD’s.
Defense Gets Giants Back on Track
As all Giants fans know, defense sets the tone and the defense yesterday went a long way to turning the Giants young season around. The unit forced 7 turnovers that led to 17 points and led Big Blue to a 20-14 victory over the Redskins. It was the Giants first victory in their last nine games. The Giants have never lost 10 in a row.
