In March, Patrice Lataillade, Marc Jacobs International CFO and COO, filed suit against his former employer and its president, Robert Duffy, for creating a "discriminatory environment" that involved "displaying [of] gay pornography in the office and requiring employees to look at it," and Duffy's "requirement that an MJI store employee perform a pole dance for him." You know, typical work stuff. Lataillade asserted that complaining about these practices got him fired. At the time, MJI said that he was actually fired for "serious matters unrelated to the allegations made in the complaint." Forty-nine year old suspect Mark Perkins was identified Thursday through DNA evidence, though police believe he works with accomplices, reports the Times. At West Broadway's Jeans Shop one night the gang got in with a crowbar and grabbed 130 pairs of denim pants, each retailing at over $200; at Michael Kors they grabbed flashy gold leather satchel bags. Though sellers fear the crime wave will scare off their upscale clientele, an editor of RackedNY says the spree speaks to the fine tastes of the city. In February of this year, State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo crashed Fashion Week and announced an indictment against the former superintendent of the 26th Street Armory who solicited bribes from designer Marc Jacobs. Now TMZ reports that Cuomo has brought his wrath upon Jacobs himself, you know, "for bribing a State official so he could get a desirable venue for his fashion show." Marc Jacobs International has now admitted their guilt and agreed to pay a $1 million fine. The Observer points out that a company spokesperson noted they are “pleased that this matter has been resolved. We have already taken and will continue to take steps to avoid incidents of this nature in the future.” Looks like the designer will have to come up with a thrifty idea for his next showing! more ›

The NY Post puts the mug of a puggle - a mix between a pug and a beagle - on the cover, saying that this accidental breed is the hottest in the city. Metro Puppy Kennels owner Brian Incovaia says, "Everyone is clawing for them, it's ridiculous. I get people calling left and right for them and basically you get the equivalent of breeding a Marc Jacobs bag with a Louis Vuitton." Well, that's a problem right there, thinking that a dog is like a purse. But anyway, the dogs, which cost along the lines of a bigger Marc Jacobs bag (from $650-900), are popular because they are small enough for Manhattan apartments.
