Marc Jacobs, who is no angel himself, had a questionable employee managing one of his three stores in the Village. The NY Post reports that 24-year-old Kyle Avila stole approximately $62K from the designer in just 18 months. Gawker notes that the Kansas boy also once posed nude for a Jacobs t-shirt (pictured), so maybe he just felt he was due. It appears no one was the wiser at the 385 Bleecker Street shop, as......

Before the first model walked down the runway, Naomi Campbell spoke out about the lack of minorities at this year's Fashion Week. The Daily News follows up on her initial accusation as the tents emptied out this weekend, saying that "a campaign to promote diversity on the runways during New York's Fashion Week appears to have failed miserably." According the paper, out of 1,584 model slots, 94 (6%) went to black models, 17 (1%) to......

On Wednesday, State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo crashed Fashion Week when he announced an indictment against the former superintendent of the 26th Street Armory. James Jackson had solicited bribes from fashion darling Marc Jacobs (pictured), who allegedly complied in order to secure the coveted armory space for his fashion shows. The Armory is considered a "community asset" whose space is to be used by the military and public. As of Wednesday, the designer was in......

It wouldn't be Fashion Week without a little bit of scandal, and this week a state government employee nearly made runway roadkill out of designer Marc Jacobs. Jacobs, apparently so over the tents, has staged his shows at the 26th Street Armory (also known as The 69th Regiment Armory) from February 2000 to...this week. In order to get exclusive access to the building during Fashion Week, he's had to pay the piper. Charges were filed......

Last night Top Chef began with a Quickfire Challenge consisting of everyone cooking Padma breakfast...we swear she thinks of the challenges when she's stoned (see: the onion cutting relay. C'mon!). After the "food awakening" they were in for a rude awakening. Sent to New York City, the contestants seemed genuinely happy when they saw the Manhattan skyline...but their dreams were dashed when they were held in New Jersey for a day at Newark Airport. Cooking......

Anna Wintour, Balenciaga's Nicolas Ghesquière, and Cate Blanchett hosted last night's annual Costume Institute gala, which was a celebration of Paul Poiret, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Poirot was the pioneer in modern fashion, and freed women from petticoats and corsets - though many, even those in attendance last night, aren't familiar with him. Everyone did their best to dress "in the spirit of" the King of Fashion however, including: Mick Jagger, David......

Sure, there are tons of auctions happening - a handwritten draft of a Steinbeck novel will likely take in $500K at the end of the month, Courtney is gonna sell Kurt's pajamas, the Dukes of Hazzard car (the General Lee) took in nearly $10M this weekend and the Met held an "Art for Opera" auction yesterday. We'd like to focus on the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, however. Tonight is the last night of......

Ahhhh! It's Olympus Fashion Week and today, the designers from Project Runway showed their collections! Now, as we all know, all four designers from the Final Four - Jeffrey, Laura, Michael and Uli - get to present at Fashion Week, but one of the shows is a decoy, in order for people not to know who the true Final Three are. (Last year, Kara Janx presented at Fashion Week, though Daniel V., Chloe and......

The NY Post puts the mug of a puggle - a mix between a pug and a beagle - on the cover, saying that this accidental breed is the hottest in the city. Metro Puppy Kennels owner Brian Incovaia says, "Everyone is clawing for them, it's ridiculous. I get people calling left and right for them and basically you get the equivalent of breeding a Marc Jacobs bag with a Louis Vuitton." Well, that's a......

- Paris Commune, the West Village eatery that moved into new space at 99 Bank Street last year, is celebrating its anniversary by opening the Rouge Wine Bar. Quaff wines from France, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and Chile while you wait for a table upstairs, or finish off your night by sipping on a glass of cognac while you gaze at the original fresco covering two walls. Lil' Kim, everyone's new favorite Marc Jacobs fashion plate, was sentenced to a year and a day in prison, plus a $50,000 for "for lying to a federal grand jury to protect friends involved in a 2001 shootout outside a Manhattan radio station." A year and a day - that's clearly a judge who wants to make a point. According to the AP, the judge also "considered the public perception of sending a young, African-American......

The Village Voice looked at the popular handbags seen in the city. To date: There seems to be a decline of Louis Vuitton, while Vuitton designer Marc Jacobs own big-buckled bags have tremendous staying power (they telegraph "I went to college, but I'm still kind of arty"). On the other hand, Coach logo bags mean "I went to college too, and I have a really good job!" and a canvas bag from the Strand or......

Courtney Love will be coming to town to play SummerStage on June 28. Tickets go on sale today; if you go, you may want to wear riot gear. More SummerStage details here. Courtney Love told reporters after a court appearance (where she plead guilty and agreed to go into drug rehab) that Marc Jacobs gave her lots of clothes. Marc Jacobs also dressed Winona Ryder during her shoplifting trial (Gothamist loves lies.com's analysis of Winona's......

There's an article in the Post today that's both sweet and scary: How people obsessed with certain big ticket items (well big ticket for twentysomethings) have great friends who will chip in to buy them as gifts. Some of the presents mentioned included Manolo Blahniks shoes, jewelry, and a Marc Jacobs bag. The Marc Jacobs bag was purchased by a groups of publicists for their boss who would talk about the Stella bag every day.......

The Post kicks off Radiohead's two nights at Madison Square Garden by talking to people who hate Radiohead but have been afraid to admit it because Radiohead are critically beloved and "cool." An entertainment editor says, "Hating Radiohead is the hipster's dirty little secret," and Spin writer Chuck Klosterman, though a fan, can understand the hate as well. "There's definitely now a symbolic value to saying you hate Radiohead - even Kid Rock makes a......

I suppose celebrities who wants free clothes from Marc Jacobs will take note of Winona Ryder's tactic. No, not shoplifting - one can get arrested for that and stand trial. It's wearing the clothes to the trial that gets the attention of Marc Jacobs. So now Winona is the new model for Marc Jacobs(second item).......
