The Red Sox have hired colorful and controversial former Mets skipper Bobby Valentine as their new manager. Valentine, who managed the Mets for six seasons and led them to the World Series in 2000, will take over for Terry Francona following the Sox's historic collapse at the end of last season. Below, relive our favorite Valentine's moment with the Mets—when he put on a fake mustache to sneak back into the dugout after getting ejected from a game:

Ke$ha's Ex-Management Sues Before Her 15 Minutes Run Out
Ke$ha's former management company, DAS Communications, is suing the pop star for $14 million before her time in the spotlight runs out. According to the NY Post, the papers were filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, and claim the performer is a one-hit wonder whose 15 minutes may be TiK ToK-ing down. Specifically, they claim Ke$ha "is a very young and inexperienced artist whose 'star' may not continue to rise. Although she has made an incredible amount of money in a very short period of time, in large part due to DAS' efforts on her behalf, she could just as easily lose money if not properly guided."
Report: Mets Choose Terry Collins As New Manager
According to reports, the Mets have selected Terry Collins as their newest manager. Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz told ESPN that, "We've made our decision and we're working on the terms of a contract." Collins previously managed the Houston Astros from 1994 to 1996 and the then-Anaheim Angels from 1997 to 1999, compiling a 444-434 record, but has not been a major league manager in over a decade. Collins also managed in the Japanese leagues (where he allegedly found love). Last year, he served as the Mets’ minor league field coordinator, giving him an overview of the entire farm system. According to the News, the Mets valued Collins' "fiery, old-school approach to the game," which helped him beat out other candidates such as Bob Melvin, Chip Hale and Wally Backman.
Mets Whittling Down Managerial Candidates
The Yankees may be pursuing an ace, negotiating with a captain, and waiting to hear back from a long-time member, but the Mets just want someone to call the shots on the field. The team is deep into their managerial search, having interviewed several candidates over the past two weeks since Sandy Alderson was appointed new team GM.
Mets Give Ticket Prices A Serious Cut
The Mets are sorry you guys. What do they have to do to get you to forgive them? You want them to apologize for sucking? Done. You want them to fire their manager and general manager? Done. Hire a new GM who pioneered the use of sabermetrics and seems to have actual baseball acumen? Done. Get rid of Eddy Curry's sinkhole of a contract? Wrong team. What else can they do?? Refund your money for watching them annually disappoint?
Yanks Close To Re-Signing Girardi
As was expected, the Yankees and manager Joe Girardi are close to agreeing on a three-year deal to keep Girardi in pinstripes, according to the Post. The new contract will pay something in the $9-10 million range, an increase from his previous three-year $7.5 million salary. The raise will make Girardi one of the top ten highest paid managers in the league, and allow the Yankees to begin concentrating on the rest of their off-season plans, including re-signing veterans like Derek Jeter and Andy Pettitte, and pursuing free agents such as Rangers ace Cliff Lee. After the deal is finalized, we expect the number of World Series titles and crash victims aided by Girardi to increase exponentially.
Report: Mets Hire Sandy Alderson As New GM
The Mets have gone through their own version of the 12 step program this off-season: sometime mid-summer, they admitted to themselves they were powerless over sucking, then they made a fearless moral inventory by admitting the wrongs of Omar Minaya and Jerry Manuel and firing them both. They held a press conference in which they admitted their failings, asked the media for forgiveness, and promised to make amends to the fans. And now, through prayer, meditation and a complicated interviewing process, the Mets are reportedly going to sign Sandy Alderson to be their next general manager.
Lawsuit: Cops Filed False Report To Protect Steakhouse
An actress claims a manager at Smith & Wollensky steakhouse attacked and berated her for refusing to sleep with a bartender—and police covered up the incident to "maintain goodwill" between the NYPD and the eatery. Jennifer Sachs, 38, says a patron and a drunken manager at the 49th Street restaurant called her a "f---ing Jew" when she refused the barkeep's proposition. When police arrived, she claims they arrested her on false charges of assault and disorderly conduct so they could keep getting cheap food and drinks.
All New York Subway Lines to Get General Managers
For the past ten months, the MTA has been experimenting with a new management structure on the L and 7 lines that officials hope will improve subway service. But has anyone noticed? Most passengers stopped by the Times say they've seen little change, though one woman believes the L has been slightly less mobbed when it pulls into Lorimer Street during rush hour. The experiment calls for a general manager to take charge of each subway line and make "quick" decisions over train schedules, maintenance of stations, and riders' complaints. NYC Transit president Howard Roberts Jr. says that as a result more trains have been running on time (though the Times questions this) and will roll out the restructuring citywide. Roberts says the managerial streamlining will result in 70 fewer positions and a savings of $7.3 million/year. Which will put the transit system just $993 million away from closing their $1 billion deficit!
Marc Jacobs Store Manager/Model Caught Stealin'
Marc Jacobs, who is no angel himself, had a questionable employee managing one of his three stores in the Village. The NY Post reports that 24-year-old Kyle Avila stole approximately $62K from the designer in just 18 months. Gawker notes that the Kansas boy also once posed nude for a Jacobs t-shirt (pictured), so maybe he just felt he was due.
Stabbing of Restaurant Greeter May Be Mob Related
The morning after George Atterbury, general manager of Grayz restaurant on West 54th Street, was interviewed by Eater about his experiences greeting swells at Grayz, he was slashed in the face and stabbed in the abdomen by three men on the East Side. A dining blog curse, or just a random act of violence? Police are now suggesting another possible explanation: mob ties.
