Rangers 2 Philadelphia 0: Stephen Valiquette certainly likes playing in Philadelphia. Last time he was there he shutout the Flyers and this time he provided the same result. While Valiquette’s play was solid, the game was highlighted by hard hits and a lot of fighting, including a major scrum in the second period. Nigel Dawes got the Rangers on the board near the end of the third period as he converted a power play chance.......

Lakers 95 Knicks 90: The light bulb has finally gone on for Isiah and he admitted after the game that “maybe we have the wrong guys starting right now.” Why it took this long to click is another question, but Sunday offered definitive proof that changes in the lineup need to be made. The Lakers cruised to a 70-45 lead and then had to hang on against a Knicks’ rally that happened with the unit......

Knicks 108, Cavaliers 90: Maybe it was the anti-Knicks rally earlier in the day. Maybe it was the Cavaliers' looking forward to a night out on the town. For one game, the Knicks masqueraded as a team capable of beating almost anyone. Eddy Curry picked up two fouls and didn't play much of the first half. Stephon Marbury didn't play at all. Coincidence, or Dannon? David Lee dominated the first two quarters with 17 points......

Yesterday's Knicks practice was cancelled so that the entire team could attend the funeral for Don Marbury, father of Knicks captain Stephon Marbury. Don Marbury died during the Knicks' Sunday night game. Despite being a team often criticized for lacking chemistry, they all stood together at the Coney Island Gospel Assembly on Neptune Ave. to support their point guard during his difficult time. Malik Rose spoke on behalf of the team to the 600-plus......

Rangers 4 Atlanta 2: The Rangers finished off their sweep of the Thrashers in dramatic fashion, coming back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to finally take the lead on a goal that had to be reviewed for over five minutes. Five minutes into the third period, Matt Cullen unleashed a vicious slapshot that caromed off the top crossbar and appeared to bounce out of the crease. Replays showed the puck had bounced down into......

Mavericks 92, Knicks 77: No one is surprised the Knicks lost this game to the 55-11 Mavericks, but the effort wasn't there again. Eddy Curry can take the accolades for a 22-point night, yet he made only four of 12 free throws. Even with a roster banged up enough to require Malik Rose to play 12 minutes, this effort didn't impress anyone. Most teams try to rise to the occasion when the league's best comes......

Knicks 106 Golden State 96: By now the Knicks should have figured this out. Go out and put some effort into the game and some good things might happen. With Jamal Crawford out for the year and David Lee and Nate Robinson sidelined, the Knicks went some different lineups and some different players and it all worked out. Mardy Collins, Malik Rose and Steve Francis all made significant contributions while Quentin Richardson led the team......

Celtics 102, Knicks 94: It's games like this that make Knicks fans shake their heads when their team talks playoffs. Even without Jamal Crawford and David Lee, the performance in this game is embarrassing. For one, the Celtics are the favorites to win the draft lottery, and, for another, no team should look as bad as the Knicks did Wednesday. Sure, they were thin enough that Malik Rose had to play 10 minutes. But even......

Those are the words of Quentin Richardson and they are truly the best way to sum up the current state of the Knicks. After last night’s 105-90 loss, the team held a 20-minute meeting behind closed doors. Afterwards, Larry Brown delivered the brutally honest assessment that, “"I have to find five guys who care enough to compete.” Brown wasn’t alone in questioning the effort of his players. Malik Rose when asked about why Brown’s coaching......

Gothamist is going to embrace the positive and report solely on the good things that happened to the Knicks last night. After all, when a team wins for only the third time in twenty-five games, it is a cause for celebration. Yes, the Knicks won last night and on the road against a team fighting for a playoff spot as well. So, let’s enjoy the 103-98 victory. The Knicks shot 50% from the field while......

At least the Knicks are making progress. Normally a 84-79 loss to the Clippers like the Knicks suffered Wednesday wouldn't be cause for celebration. This loss isn't either, but at least Gothamist saw some signs of life in the Knicks. Of course, everything is relative for a team that is 6-12. First, the Clippers are not the laughingstock they've always been. They improved to 13-5 with the win over the Knicks and lead the Pacific......

After a 2-4 road trip through the West, the Knicks returned to Madison Square Garden to avenge one of the road swing's losses in a 103-92 win over Portland Sunday. Stephon Marbury had his best game of the season (27 points, 8 assists) and outshone Sebastien Telfair, the Trail Blazers point guard and Marbury's cousin. Although the Knicks earned their third victory, Gothamist still sees plenty of things to be worried about. It's no secret......

A marquee matchup? Not so much. That said, the Knicks will take it. Stephon Marbury had 31 points and Malik Rose added 18 against his old team as the Knicks beat the Spurs 88-75 last night at the Garden. The game was rather messy, as 2-time MVP Tim Duncan, Kurt Thomas, and Penny Hardaway all missed the game due to injury. A gimpy Manu Ginobili (who has a groin injury) played, but rarely contributed in......

After weeks of heartbreaking losses, the Knicks are starting to turn it around. They won games with Philly and Indiana last week, and continued the streak with an OT victory against the LA Lakers last night at MSG. Despite blowing a 12-point lead in the final 2 minutes, the Knicks rallied and actually pulled one out at the end. Tim Thomas led the charge with 35 points, and (perhaps for the only time this year)......
