Calling All Tools: M2 Ultralounge Allowed to Reopen!

Dude, the past few months have been a total friggin' nightmare! First Bloomberg's nanny patrol cracked down on all the clubs with the best bottle service and hottest Latvians, just because we were smoking some Marlboro Reds. Then the city straight up shut down M2 Ultralounge, which was the ultrabomb, because you could buy loose cigarettes in the bathroom and E from whoeva. And we were like Nooooo! We have not been able to party there since April, but finally, at last, the Health Nazis are letting M2 Ultralounge reopen after collecting a $7,500 fine and making M2 promise to enforce the Fascist indoor smoking laws. But whatever, STILL WE RAGE! We gotta FEELING! That tonight's gonna be a good night, that tonight's gonna be a good night... more ›

M2 Ultra Lounge Shut Down...Again

M2 Ultra Lounge Shut Down...Again

...Spoke too soon! First the city moved to shutdown M2 UltraLounge for being a "smokeasy," then it went through with it, then it made an arrangement to re-open it—and now it's shut down again. The NYPD showed up at midnight last night, just before their NFL draft party got underway (hosted by Deion Sanders!), and ejected 300 or so people inside. A thousand people lingered outside hoping for a miracle...to no avail. This time, it was shut down allegedly because of lax security. So much for "good faith agreement." more ›

NYPD Shuts Down "Smokeasy" M2 Ultra Lounge

[UPDATE BELOW] It turns out that routine violations of the Smoke Free Air act weren't the only problem at M2 UltraLounge. The police were granted their request to shut down both M2 and Chelsea's Pink New York after describing them as the "Wild West of drug dealing" to the State Supreme Court. The Times reports that investigators found unlicensed security guards, saw fights that guards failed to control, and were able to buy a plethora of illegal drugs—cocaine, ketamine, Vicodin, Ecstasy and marijuana—nine times... in more than two years. That's what's counting as the "Wild West" these days? more ›

City Moves to Shut Down M2 UltraLounge Over Smoking

The NYC Health Department is intensifying a crackdown on bars and clubs that permit cigarette smoking, and officials may make an extreme example of extremely obnoxious club M2 UltraLounge. The club went on trial last week at a special administrative court that the city uses when it seeks to take away property, and the Times reports that if M2 loses, it would be the first time the city had closed a business solely for violating a ban on smoking. more ›

Club Claims Cops Abandoned Lost Granny, NYPD Denies It

On Saturday morning, 86-year-old Betty Zengel, who suffers from Alzheimer's, managed to disappear from her caretaker's watch on the Upper East Side—and somehow ended up outside a Chelsea nightclub at midnight. M2 Ultralounge's owner and head of security contacted the NYPD, whose officers escorted Zengel away.
