Man Fatally Stabs Romantic Rival In Brooklyn

Both tabloids detail the "deadly love triangle" where one man killed another over Catalina Hernandez. The Daily News spoke to the 24-year-old (with dramatic photo) reports that "Michael Lebron walked from his shelter to her Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment at 10:30 p.m. Saturday and screamed for her on-again, off-again boyfriend to show himself," yelling, "I ain't no p---y I'm going to kill you; we're going to finish this tonight." And Pedro Marquez, 46, who has a two-month old with Hernandez, yelled back, "Let's see who's going to die tonight!" and emerged from the building with kitchen knife, stabbing Lebron numerous times. Hernandez told the Post that Marquez was disappointing—"We were arguing, and he wasn't working, and I was doing everything alone"—while Lebron, who was 40, "knew how to treat a woman. He wasn't trying to have sex all the time. He just showed me attention emotionally." (But it turns out that Lebron had a fiancee, who visited her yesterday.) Marquez, who was charged with murder, wrote in a note to Hernandez, "Please forgive me. It was not my intention to do this. I've been depressed. I feel sorry for what happened but that's life."

16-Year-Olds Involved In Fatal Love Triangle

A 16-year-old Bronx teen was arrested and charged with murdering his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend. Kevin Santiago apparently became upset when he saw ex Alma DeJesus, 16, with Michael Silva, also 16, in DeJesus's apartment building hallway on Sunday. The Daily News reports, "Santiago chased DeJesus down the hallway until DeJesus ducked and hid inside her mother's apartment...After Santiago banged on DeJesus' door, screaming for her to come out, Silva approached and ordered the ex-lover to leave." Santiago, who screamed, "Who the f--- are you?", then "turned his knife on Silva, stabbing him once in the chest." Neighbors says that Santiago had been stalking DeJesus for weeks and believe that he intended to kill her. Santiago and DeJesus (pictured) have a 7-month-old baby together.

Ex-NYPD Cop Shoots Fellow Cop, Then Kills Himself

A former NYPD police officer fatally shot himself after accusing his wife, also an NYPD cop, of having an affair with another cop. The NY Post reports that Cecil Ramsay, 51, confronted wife Dady Belfort, 47, and Edwin Chittick, 40, when the pair arrived at Belfort and Ramsay's home in North Babylon, Long Island. According to Suffolk County police, the pair denied an affair and Chittick said, "I'm not here to have an argument with you. I'm leaving." Belfort and Chittick fled in her car; from Newsday, "Ramsay fired at least three times at the moving vehicle. One of the bullets hit Chittick's hand. Neither Chittick nor Belfort returned fire." Ramsay then shot himself; Belfort reportedly didn't realize her husband turned the gun on himself and kept driving to take Chittck to the hospital. The altercation and shooting was apparently witnessed by a construction crew.

2 Woman Shot, 1 Dead, on East New York Corner

Yesterday afternoon, a man shot two women in the head at Jerome Street and Linden Boulevard in the East New York section of Brooklyn. One woman, 22-year-old Janet Martinez, died while 19-year-old Kella Ocasio is in critical condition. The NY Times reports that Martinez had filed an assault complaint against the shooting suspect before being killed: "She also had had a previous relationship with the suspect’s girlfriend, and had taken out an order of protection against her, the police said." But the Daily News says that Martinez and the suspect were previously involved, and Ocasio's relative said that the gunman was unhappy with the affair and had threatened Ocasio. A resident told NY1, "There was six shots, two over there and four over there in the middle of street. I couldn't believe it."

Murder-Suicide Shooter Was Married

Details are emerging about the victims and apparent shooter in the Upper West Side murder-suicide. Police believe that Michael Ruiz killed Debra Silver and Dan Tedlie in Silver's West 93rd Street apartment before turning the gun on himself. It's believed Ruiz was Silver's jealous lover when he burst onto Silver's dinner with her ex-boyfriend Tedlie. The Daily News reports that Tedlie was getting ready to move to Colorado this week. Tedlie's mother said of her son and Silver, "They were good friends, and they loved each other that way." Further, Ruiz was married with two children in NJ; a neighbor said of Ruiz, "Wendy and him were happily married, as far as I could tell. He's into archery and hunting. He was a very nice guy, kept to himself."

A man who fatally hit a bicyclist and dragged him while he drunkenly crashed into other cars in Hempstead was charged with murder, as well as vehicular manslaughter and DWI. Lorenzo Tobar was allegedly upset his ex-girlfriend (and mother of his child) was dating the bicyclist Ludwin Marcia. A Hempstead resident, who heard the crash and ran out of his house, took the keys from Tobar's car and kept him at the scene until police arrived. Nassau police said, "When we told [Tobar] he had someone under the car ... he kept trying to move the car."

Yesterday, Ruslana Korshunova's mother arrived from Kazhakstan to identify her daughter's body at the medical examiner's office. Officials ruled that the 20-year-old model had jumped to her death from her Water Street apartment on Saturday, but with the world ahead of her, many people are wondering what drove to her to suicide.

If you were going to read about the fatal stabbing of a 30-year-old Brooklyn man in, say, the NY Times, you'd only learn that the suspect was a woman with a history of mental disturbances. But if you read about the killing of Aleksey Kats in the NY Post and Daily News, then you'd know that Kats' wife Elina and the suspect, Anastasiya Andreyeva, were lovers and that the three had been engaged in an...
