From Client 9 To BMOC: Spitzer Teaches At City College

Former governor Eliot Spitzer, who denies that he's running for office next year (not matter what the Post says or hopes), is starting a new career: As an educator. According to Politics on the Hudson, he's teaching "a three-hour law and public policy class once a week in the political-science department for the fall semester" at City College of New York. CCNY spokesman Ellis Simon said, "We’re delighted that Eliot Spitzer has become an adjunct member of our facility. His experience as attorney general and as governor of the state of New York gives him a unique and powerful perspective that can only benefit our students."

Possible Return Of Spitzer, The Steamroller-Hooker Aficionado

Even though it's officially September, it's still sort of like a slow summer news week—which is perhaps why the NY Post is suggesting on its front page that former governor Eliot Spitzer is considering a new statewide run! The headline is tabloid gold, of course. But is there any truth to the story?

Lov Gov Sanford Loved In NYC, Hamptons

In an interview with the Associated Press, South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford was "teary-eyed" when he "admitted he met with his mistress in the Hamptons and New York City, describing...the details of encounters that he said stretch back to 2001." In fact, Sanford gets all The Bridges of Madison County about it, "I was frightened and I was scared, and I knew the consequences. This was a whole lot more than a simple affair. This was a love story. A forbidden one, a tragic one, but a love story at the end of the day." While he met mistress Maria Belen Chapur in Uruguay in 2001, they met again in 2004 at a NYC cafe—while he was in town for the 2004 Republican Convention—"It was like catching up with a great, old friend. I remember there was an older couple sitting to our right, and I remember them watching us, in the way that we interacted. They could see a spark." Sanford didn't speculate about his 20-year marriage but did say, "I will be able to die knowing that I had met my soul mate."

Love Gov Club: McGreevey Discusses Sanford's Admission

If you're going to discuss South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford's South American wanderings to his married girlfriend, why not enlist the expert insight of another governor whose reign ended when he admitted to an affair with a man—and that he was a "Gay American"? The Today Show snagged former NJ governor James McGreevey to comment about Sanford's mess—clearly, Eliot Spitzer passed.

If you have a question for Governor David Paterson, WCBS 880 is taking questions before its 4 p.m. live interview with him. So far, the questions are about medical liability reform and the Atlantic Yards project. You'll be able to listen to the interview here. And in tangential governor news, horses named "Luv Gov" and "Ninth Client" ran at Saratoga these past few days--Ninth Client was tied for first yesterday.
