Well, well, well. Apparently New Jersey residents—or the Bridge & Tunnel crowd, as some people call them when they infiltrate our fair city—have their own derogatory nicknames for out-of-towners visiting the Garden State. According to the Daily News, summer tourists at the Shore are called FOOTs, which stands for "Fucking Out-Of-Towners." They even have bumper stickers proclaiming "I Ain't No FOOT." Classy!

New Map Helps You Avoid Tourists
If you've ever wanted a concrete guide to avoiding hoards of Midwesterners glued to their cameras and blocking your path, neo-cartographer Eric Fischer presents the Tourist v. Local map. In response to beliefs that his Geotaggers' World Atlas map was just a map of where out-of-towners were snapping shots, Fischer set out to see who was photographing what. The blue spots represent photos taken by "people who have taken pictures in this city dated over a range of a month or more," which most likely mean they're from around these parts. The red spots represent photos taken in the city for less than a month, and the yellow spots couldn't be determined.
New Yorkers Don't Know New York
How well do locals know New York? A recent "New York Pass or Fail Survey" polled city folk about NYC and its attractions. Reading through the results, provided by New York Pass, is really just sort of depressing. For example, 41% think that the Top of the Rock is on top of the Empire State Building! This statistic is only made more alarming by the fact that the name of the attraction might as well be its address. People, it's on top of the Rock! Sigh.
Greenpoint Residents Want Hollywood Out
With South Williamsburg supposedly still on their break from Hollywood, having been dubbed a no-film zone after too much action, the spotlight has turned to Greenpoint. But the NY Post reports that locals there are also getting riled up over the takeover, which brings a lack of parking spaces and too much traffic. A shopkeeper told the paper, "The thrill is gone. As far as I'm concerned, this is a nuisance. This is of no benefit to anyone around here."
Red Hook Talks Real World
While MTV is keeping mum on the whereabouts of the upcoming Real World Brooklyn location, the borough is all wise to the fact that they're setting up camp in Red Hook (after not moving to Carroll Gardens or Downtown's BellTel Lofts). The Brooklyn Paper asked some residents how they felt about their new future neighbors, who will reside at Pier 41 at 204 Van Dyke Street.
“I’d rather have another Ikea,” said John Varonian, who has lived in Red Hook for two years, and would prefer that MTV reopen and run the Laundromat down the street.more ›
Video of the Day: "The Old Neighborhood," Carroll Gardens
The LA Times, of all papers, takes a look at Carroll Gardens and its old time Italian locals. They're not too happy with the new residents, high rises overshadowing brownstones, and kids playing video games instead of street ball. Take a look...
