Is The City Cracking Down On Raw Egg-Infused Cocktails?

Protein shakes aren't the only drinks that contain raw eggs. A number of high-end bars and lounges have started using raw egg whites and raw egg yolks in their cocktails, and according to the Times, drink makers believe they are under attack from the city due to overblown salmonella concerns. Rumors of the raw egg crackdown stem from a Jan. 19 health code violation leveled against SoHo's Pegu Club because a barkeep allegedly didn't tell a patron his drink included raw eggs. more ›

- We can't even begin to tell you how excited that Michal Psilakis' gnudi recipe was featured in January's Bon Appetit, which arrived in our mailbox last night. We've been to dona a handful of times, and have been compelled to order it each time. The gnudi themselves are pillowy and light, while the earthiness of the truffle and mushroom-infused sauce is a perfect match for the sage and crisp pancetta. We can't wait to try it at home! more ›

This month Little Branch joins these spots (and a London branch of Milk & Honey) in Mr. Petraske's burgeoning empire and we think it's a fine addition. Down a flight of stairs at a somewhat precious intersection in the West Village, this is far more accessible than Milk & Honey (no reservations required, no unlisted number required to make reservations), but still more intimate than The East Side Company. more ›
