Lisa Loeb Ties the Knot in Midtown Restaurant

Lisa Loeb, forever to be known as the bespectacled singer of "Stay" (video!), was first discovered in New York after neighborhood pal Ethan Hawke heard her sing. Years later in 2005, the unlucky in love musician got her own reality show on E! called #1 Single, which documented her search for love. Now, years after that, the 40-year-old has finally found it! Here's the bride pictured with her new husband (Conan O'Brien music coordinator) Roey Hershkovitz, who is ten years younger. The two are posing with Chef Julian Alonzo of Brasserie 8 ½ where the wedding celebration was held on January 31st, following a proposal "in front of the fireplace at the Maritime Hotel." But will the happy couple have to leave New York with Conan?

EVENT: The Academy presents Meet the Oscars. On top of learning fun facts about Oscar, you'll get to see the little gold guy (and tons of tourists) up close and personal, as the statuettes are on display in Times Square. We suggest you bring a fake acceptance speech with you.

Gothamist recently trekked to Lai Yuen in Bay Ridge to sample what neighbors called (in punchy, Brooklyn dialect) “Chinese food to make Confucius proud.” Confucius likely turned in his grave at the suggestion that Lai Yuen’s Americanized offerings, while delicious, even remotely resemble the simple fare of his 5th century BCE brethren, but the experience was vivid nonetheless. It revealed, in white-gloved detail, the fading state of the disused Chinese restaurant concept; a fact which, in spite of itself, may have turned a place like Lai Yuen into a kind of relic.

MOVIE: Netflix Rolling Roadshow presents The Warriors. Watch the local turf wars play out on a big screen in Coney Island. Tickets are on a first come, first serve basis. And for some reason, Lisa Loeb is hosting this and there will be a Q&A following the movie.

Everyone in New York, it seems, wants to make it big. But with so many people competing, work falls by the wayside, dreams get dashed and people get rejected. Which is the foundation for Jon Friedman’s Rejection Show, this Wednesday at P.S. 122. The show embraces the rejected material of professional and amateur writers, comedians, cartoonists, artists, and human beings, who display their creative “failures” live on stage. Of course many of the performers are contributors for The Daily Show, The New Yorker and even star on Arrested Development, so quit feeling sorry for yourself, even these guys have their critics. This week the show welcomes comedian Liam McEneany, cartoonist Matt Diffee, mayoral candidate Andy Horwitz and many more.
