Two of Lil Wayne's backup dancers were arrested this week after allegedly beating up a waitress at a West Hartford, Connecticut P.F. Chang's over a check-splitting dispute.

Lil Wayne To Celebrate Release With Elegant Strippers
Lil Wayne will cap off his first days of freedom from Rikers, after serving an eight month sentence for a gun possession charge, with an "elegant, extravagant" evening of celebration and strippers to welcome him home. It was a semi-calm first day for Wayne yesterday, but it will soon be a very busy week for the rap superstar, with cross-country trips and parties galore. Thankfully for us, his official fan club, MTV, is there to report on his every move, from his first glass of post-prison champagne to his first post-prison dump.
Lil Wayne Breaks Out Of Jail...Legally!
The angels are rejoicing today—after eight months in jail over a gun possession charge, Lil Wayne is finally free! But just as his sentencing was continually interrupted by bizarre occurrences, including a courthouse fire and dental surgery, his parole came with its own minor snag: a miscalculation nearly forced Wayne to spend an extra day in jail. Once that was cleared up, Wayne was discharged from Rikers prison around 8:30 a.m. today.
Bill Clinton Happy for Lil Wayne's Prison Release
Finally, the 42nd President of the United States has weighed in on Lil Wayne's impending release from Rikers. Bill Clinton called into Pittsburgh's 96.1 Kiss Morning Freak show yesterday, and the first question, naturally, was about the incarcerated rap star. The McRib also gets a mention! Of course the lamestream radio hosts at 96.1 apparently didn't have the guts to press Clinton on any real issues, like Charlie Sheen's recent meltdown, or whether Bubba's going to see Pee Wee's Playhouse on Broadway. But that's typical. Listen in and check out the official transcript below:
Lil Wayne Calls Out From Rikers
Lil Wayne has had quite the adventure during his time behind bars, which has included a prison blog, music contraband, weekly calls to Drake, and just a grand ol' time in general. Now the Daily News has an update from Rikers, where the rapper has been doing a lot of reflecting since getting locked up there in March.
Lil Wayne Having Grand Ol' Time In Prison
Last time we checked in with our favorite prison blogger Lil Wayne, he had been caught with "music contraband" in his jail cell, and things weren't looking so weezy-breezy for the superstar. But weep not for the ESPN blogger! In a new letter to his fans, he reveals that prison actually is pretty easy:
Lil Wayne Caught With "Music Contraband"
Before his prison incarceration earlier this year, exuberant twitterer and ESPN blogger Lil Wayne told Dinosaur Music magazine that he was planning on working on music while in jail...which seemed presumptively ambitious, to say the least. It all sounded too good to be true, and yesterday, our worst fears were realized when Lil Wayne was caught with "music contraband" in prison.
Rikers Guard Fired For Trying To Get Lil Peek At Lil Wayne
Former Rikers guard, 33-year-old probationary employee Amelia Negron, claimed she was axed after being wrongfully accused of trying to catch a glimpse of Lil Wayne. The rapper is currently serving time there... but you probably know that from his prison blog.
Lil Wayne Starts Prison Blog, Thanx His Fans
You can take away a man's freedom, but you can't take the will to blog: a little less than a month since starting his year-long prison sentence at Rikers, everyone's favorite twitter user, Lil Wayne, re-emerged on Friday with a new blog (and better editing skills). He explains that the site was set up so he could thank his F's (fans, friends and family) for sticking by him, and also so he can directly respond to fans who send him mail (and made the critically-aborted Rebirth a hit):
Lil Wayne (Finally) Sentenced To One Year In Prison
After a series of bizarre delays, including dental surgery and a courthouse fire, rapper Lil Wayne was finally sentenced today to a year in Rikers. Lil Wayne was greeted by over a hundred fans outside Manhattan Supreme Court, reports the Times, where Judge Charles Solomon handed down the year-long jail sentence. Wayne pleaded guilty last October to felony gun charges for having a pistol on his tour bus in July 2007, and had faced up to seven years in jail if he had not made a plea deal. With good behavior, Wayne could be out of jail in eight months.
Lil Wayne to Turn Himself in Monday
After some nice breaks for dental surgery and courthouse fires, rapper Lil Wayne will be turning himself in on Monday. The Post reports that he was due back in court today, but the courthouse is still closed due to the fire. But Weezy doesn't seem too fazed. In the latest MTV video from the series "Nino Brown: Road to Rikers," Lil Wayne said "I'm ready. I'm all smiles...They can only take my time." He was then informed that his court appearance had been postponed. Lil Wayne was arrested after pleading guilty to "attempted" gun possession charges, and is expected to spend most of 2010 at Rikers. That is, unless he needs more dental surgery. Or there's a coyote attack. Or a manhole explodes somewhere.
Lil Wayne Sentencing Postponed After Manhattan Courthouse Fire
Nearly 1,000 people were evacuated from a Lower Manhattan courthouse this morning because of a fire that's thought to have started in a wooden contractor's shed or in the building's basement. Around 10:30 a.m. defendants were taken back to their cells in another building when smoke began to fill the lobby at 100 Centre Street, reports the Post. According to NY1 the fire was under control in under two hours, leaving five FDNY workers, two civilians and one prisoner with minor injuries. Unhappy evacuees were ordered to the street and told the building would be closed for the day. Some came to attend the sentencing of rapper Lil Wayne, which will be postponed, like all of the cases on the court's docket.
Lil Wayne Off to Rikers Dental Surgery
[UPDATE BELOW] Today rapper Lil Wayne is expected to go to Rikers Island, where he'll spend most of 2010 behind bars after pleading guilty to "attempted" gun possession charges. In a cover story interview with Rolling Stone, Wayne says he hasn't sought advice on how to get through Rikers, because "This is Lil Wayne going to jail. Nobody I can talk to can tell me what that’s like. I just say I’m looking forward to it." It can be a mellow place if one avoids the fight clubs. Wayne spent his last night of freedom in the studio recording tracks bound for "Tha Carter IV," and also send out this heartfelt message, or "shout out," for his fans:
"Sensitive," "Utterly Well Mannered" Lil Wayne's Guilty Plea
As reported yesterday, superstar rapper/pot-enthusiast Lil Wayne pled guilty to gun possession charges in Manhattan Supreme Court, and is expected to serve most of 2010 behind bars in Rikers. The plea of "attempted possession" came as a surprise from Wayne, a dramatic turnaround after his attorneys spent the past two years arguing that police could not prove the gun found on his tour bus in July 2007 belonged to him. His defense lawyer, Stacey Richman, told MTV: "He opted to take the deal to take responsibility for the situation and I think it speaks of him that he's an individual with a strong constitution that he took that responsibility."
Lil Wayne Pleads Guilty
About a year ago rapper Lil Wayne was in Manhattan court claiming his tour bus was totally pot free after he performed at the Beacon Theater... a venue where surely the Allman Brothers have smoked a little grass on occasion. Anyway, the rapper allegedly tossed a Louis Vuitton bag with a gun inside when the NYPD approached the bus, which got him charged with "attempted weapon possession."
Lil Wayne in Big Trouble?
Lil Wayne was in Manhattan court yesterday trying to prove his tour bus is pot-free. Too bad his star witness was...his "assistant" and pot dealer! The NY Post reports that "testifying at a suppression hearing for Lil Wayne's Manhattan gun-possession case, Terry Bourgeois told the judge that nobody was smoking pot on the 30-foot tour bus when it was pulled over one night last summer near Columbus Circle" after a Beacon Theater concert. Bourgeois did admit that there was some partying on the way to the venue, and that he "probably brought it on." He also noted that the cops could likely smell the remnants of it later, but he couldn't because "I'm a smoker. I'm used to it." As for the firearm, he claims to have never seen Wayne with a gun. If convicted, he could go to jail for over 3 years. Get your "Free Weezy!" signs ready, folks.
Michael Phelps Will Host SNL's 34th Season Premiere
The superstar athlete is tapped to host the season premiere of Saturday Night Live on September 13. Other athletes who have hosted SNL-- Peyton Manning, Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Nancy Kerrigan, Jonny Moseley, Wayne Gretzky, and Lebron James to name a few--have had mixed luck.(but this Manning "United Way" commercial is great). And the musical guest is Lil Wayne, one of Phelps's favorite musicians. People writes, "No word yet on whether he will be wearing a Speedo."
Gothamist's Week in Rock: Volume 46
Jay-Z Around Town With a new, critically acclaimed album out and a refocused approach to his craft, Jay-Z took the stage twice this week in the Big Apple. For the relatively intimate events at Hammerstein and The Apollo, there was no shortage of friends and guests out to show support for Hov's return to form. Diddy, Nas, Lil Wayne and...Lebron James (?!?) all made appearances between the two shows. Lebron skipped a game to attend...
Maybe Criminal Court Should Build a Music Studio
Through some strange stroke of Manhattan Supreme Court scheduling, Ja Rule, Remy Ma, Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes all appeared in court yesterday (at different times) to face various charges. Ja Rule and Lil Wayne faced gun possession charges from separate incidents on July 22. The pair, who collaborated on a song "Uh Oh," also shared the same attorney, Stacey Richman. Richman said that Lil Wayne couldn't be guilty, because when his tour bus...
Uh Oh: Lil Wayne and Ja Rule Arrested
Rappers Ja Rule and Lil Wayne both found themselves ending their weekend with arrests last night. The separate incidents both took place in the city.
