Studio 360, the public radio show hosted by Kurt Andersen, found the perfect antidote to the daunting task of creating yet another Christmas-themed show: treat it like a brand and ask Michael Bierut of Pentagram – and six of his partners – to redesign it.

It's a packed week for the bookish types, with a couple of our favorite love-to-hate-them New York novelists on the readings circuit. Yeah, we're talking about the Jonathans. On Wednesday (2/22) Lethem is hosting a short-story evening at Symphony Space (W. 92nd St. and Broadway), with stories by James Thurber, Italo Calvino, and Jorge Luis Borges read by Malachy McCourt, Maria Tucci and Isaiah Sheffer. The show starts at 8PM and costs $21/25.

Tonight, be sure to catch a sneak peak at this summer’s upcoming movies: MoMA’s Department of Film and Media presents Gus Van Sant’s Last Days, inspired and "loosely" based on Kurt Cobain’s last days before his suicide (with Michael Pitt as the struggling, Seattle-based grungy musician), at 9:00 PM, as well as Van Sant’s Elephant at 7:00 PM. $10

Gawker summarizes the salient points of New York magazine's as well as the NY Times Magazine's end-of-the-year pieces (hint, the NYTM's focus, The Year in Ideas, is less NY-Y).

Tonight, the Municipal Art Society is taking one of NY's favorite debates to the East River: Discussion "The Better Borough: Brooklyn or Manhattan" will be held on a boat. Areas of discussion will include "the G and the V trains, Bleecker St. vs. Bedford Ave., Washington Heights and Crown Heights, SoHo boutiques vs. Smith St. boutiques, Central Park and Prospect Park, architecture, fashion, PBR, BAM, NYPL, the BQE and the FDR."
