ALERT: Mistletoe Shortage Hits The States!

ALERT: Mistletoe Shortage Hits The States!

Last year we were alarmed when we heard mistletoe may become extinct, but we moved on, and honestly... sort of forgot all about it. At that point the seasonal snog plant shortage was happening far away in the UK anyway. But now the NY Times is back with more fearmongering over losing the rape-kiss plant, reporting that the shortage has now hit the States, due to a relentless drought in Texas. They note the branches that have arrived in New York "are so anemic that they just aren’t worth the high price tag" (which is typically $5 for a tiny branch). more ›

Times Op-Ed: Kissing is Better Than Tweeting

What's with technology? Times op-ed columnist Bob Herbert wants you to know that's he's had enough of our multitasking culture, and wants you to follow him in his quest for a simpler time. And though we agree that watching a movie with a DVD player in your lap while driving to work is pushing it (Herbert says it's happened!), we're not sure if we can return to a time before Facebook. How does he suggest taking the edge off of our technology addiction? "Try kissing more and tweeting less." But then how would the internet know who we're making out with?! more ›

Suspect In Jersey City Park "Kissing" Incidents Arrested

Last week, Jersey City police warned parents taking their children to Leonard Gordon Park to be careful, because a man was spotted allegedly kissing children. Now parents—and kids—may be breathing more easily, because a suspect has been arrested. more ›

Dubai Will Jail Kissing Couple For One Month

Wonder what the New Yorker who hates PDAs would think of this: A British couple was sentenced by a Dubai court to one month in jail, followed by deportation, for allegedly kissing in public. According to the AP, "The pair landed in court after an Emirati woman complained about the public kiss, which the couple insisted was just a peck on the cheek. They were arrested in November and convicted of inappropriate behavior and illegal drinking." The AP adds, "Last month an Indian couple was sentenced to three months in jail for exchanging steamy text messages." Keep that in mind, NYU Abu Dhabi students. more ›

Video: Fan Celebrates Nadal's US Open Victory with a Kiss!

Last night out in Flushing Meadows, the US Open witnessed an event in sports that is relatively unheard of: Following Rafael Nadal's four set win in Arthur Ashe Stadium, a male fan rushed the court and planted a kiss on the Spanish superstar. What's more than that—Nadal seemed to have no problem with it whatsoever. The video below shows the modern day Morganno rushing the court as soon as Rafa went shirts-off time immediately after his match concluded. more ›

Rite-Aid Denies Gay P.D.A. Ban

Rite-Aid Denies Gay P.D.A. Ban

Queerty has it that a Rite-Aid on Sixth Avenue and 13th Street posted this anti-gay P.D.A. sign in their store over the weekend. If true, it doesn’t seem like the smartest way to win over the Greenwich Village/Chelsea clientele. But employee Kularee Kamhal, who worked there all weekend, swears “it’s a lie.” There is no manager or employee named Tom Marquez; according to her the store’s manager is one Jose Santos. Something doesn’t add up here; maybe this is all just a desperate attempt at sabotage from a rival Duane Reade? more ›
