Last night, the bodies of a Staten Island couple were found fatally stabbed in their home in the Annadale section—the couple's daughter called police after seeing blood in the front hall (a relative said, "She knew something was bad in there. She didn't want to go in. She left right away and called 911")—and it's believed their son killed them before leaving the country. At Least 13 Shot, Two Dead In One Night In The Bronx

At least 13 people were shot and two were killed in one bloody night in the Bronx. The shootings, which all occurred on Friday night and early Saturday morning, sent the boroughs crime rate soaring, and left local officials enraged. "Those responsible for these shootings must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Those who would turn to a gun as the answer to their problems have no place in decent society. City Murders on Track to Record Low in '07

Official crime statistics recorded by the city this year indicate that New York is on track to record fewer than 500 murders in 2007, the lowest number since reliable statistics began to be recorded in 1963. The trends recorded thus far this year, show that murders by strangers are also down dramatically.
