With Regis Philbin leaving Live With Regis & Kelly on November 18th, rumors are swirling around who will be his long term replacement. In the past, a source told us they'll likely bring in a sizable number of guest hosts in for an on-air audition process, similar to the one that led to Kelly's appointment. And it was just announced that the first seat warmer will be none other than Jerry Seinfeld, who has guest hosted on the show before.

Regis Allegedly Quit Over Self-Inflicted Pay Cut
According to TMZ, Regis Philbin is not quitting Live because he wants to enjoy the twilight years of his life, nor because he wants to devote his energy to smacking Nicki Minaj's butt, but rather because ABC wasn't forking over the cash. His agent says they were in talks to renew his contract, but because of the show's declining viewership, Regis would have had to take a paycut. One major reason for the bad ratings? Regis takes too much time off! Kelly Ripa is also pissed at Regis for leaving; one source said, "She felt it showed a total lack of respect for her." For the record Regis makes about $18 to $20 million a year, which he can use to buy himself one of these.
Regis Philbin is Retiring From Live
Regis Philbin, who has been hosting a version of Live with Regis and a Lady for 25 years, announced on Live with Regis and Kelly today that he will be retiring sometime early this fall. The 79-year-old pro has been a consistent TV presence for decades (he has the Guinness World Record for most hours on camera) and the Live franchise, which started syndicating nationally with Kathie Lee Gifford in 1988, has been his rock. As opposed to a little something called Who Wants to be a Millionaire, which was his golden goose.

David Blaine is going totally crazy in his fish tank at Lincoln Center. His skin is falling off but the showman (huckster?) in him is detemined to continue on. Whatever, check out page 13 of the NY Post. But he will be getting medical treatment over the weekend. No matter what you may think of David Blaine, seeing these photographs that Paul Kotik took of Blaine's hands, you'll feel bad for him...or at least better for yourself that you're not this dumb.

Kill Bill Vol. 2
Hey, everybody, a little independent film called Kill Bill, Volume 2, is coming out this Friday. Apparently there's a DVD of DVD of Kill Bill, Volume 1 out there and it really is about killing a guy named Bill - go check out first! Actually, don't bother buying the DVD - there will probably be a souped up version of it later down the road. Yes, Gothamist is a little tired of all the Kill Bill buzz - we're still smarting over the decision to break it up into two movies. This past weekend's Dave Kehr piece about other movie influences in Kill Bill was nice, though.
