As part of the Creators Project (coming to DUMBO this weekend), Karen O is bringing her first ever opera to St. Ann's Warehouse, starting tonight. The project, titled Stop The Virgens, has been pretty under wraps, with only a few details released so far... but now a video shows a glimpse at what's in store. Yeah Yeah Yeahs bandmate Nick Zinner says: "It's gonna blow people's minds."

Creators Project Announces Lineup, Karen O Opera Tix On Sale
The Creators Project is coming back for another year, and this time they'll be setting up shop in DUMBO, as previously hinted at with the announcement of the Karen O psycho-opera at St. Ann's Warehouse. The "colossal two-day arts and technology festival" will take place all over the neighborhood on October 15th and 16th, and they've just announced more details.
Karen O Says Her Psycho Opera Delivers "Sucker Punches To The Gut"
The curtains have been pulled up slightly on Karen O's upcoming opera. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman will be bringing her "psycho opera" to St. Ann's Warehouse in DUMBO this October, in conjunction with the Creators Project—but until now that's about all we'd been told. Now Miss O says actress Lili Taylor, Beastie Boys DJ Money Mark, and members of The Greenhornes and The Raconteurs will be involved. (Paging Jack White?)
Karen O Is Bringing "Psycho Opera" To St. Ann's Warehouse
The entire week of events will be all over DUMBO, and will include music performances, art exhibits, panels and screenings. We'll publish more details as they arise, but for now, save the month: this is all happening in October!
Leaked Video: David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Trailer
You've read the book. You've seen the Swedish movie. Now, it's David Fincher's turn to offer up The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. A red band trailer has turned up on YouTube and it features Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander, Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist, the tagline "The Feel-Bad Movie Of Christmas" and Karen O's cover of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song."
Gothamist's Week in Rock: Sweaty Edition
Out of the blue, Karen O announced late last week that she was going to play two shows at Union Pool on Monday night. Not as her normal role as front woman of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but with a new band called Native Korean Rock & The Fishnets. The two back-to-back sets contained all new material and a fresh new sailorsuit-clad backing band plucked from other local bands like the Mooney Suzuki and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. There's no word on anything coming up for these guys, but this likely won't be the last we hear from NKR. Likely any upcoming shows will spring up as suddenly as these two did.
Real Estate Remnants
Everyone has abandoned an air conditioner or left condiments in the fridge when rushing to move out of an apartment. The NY Times goes behind closed doors to find out what is most commonly left behind when people move out.
This Just In: Yeah Yeah Yeahs Karen O at Home
This just in from Stereogum, Karen O recordings were found in TV on the Radio guitarist, Dave Sitek's, old Brooklyn apartment. This seems like an indie rock time capsule to us, opened a little bit too soon. The inscription, written by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer, on the cd cover reads:
Pencil This In
READINGS: Sebastian Junger (co-owner of the Half King) will be reading there tonight from his latest book, A Death in Belmont. The book ties into Junger's own life eerily - back in 1963 when Junger was a small boy growing up in Belmont, Massachusetts, Bessie Goldberg was murdered down the street from his home. Following the stories of the two different men suspected of committing the crime (and one of them working at Junger's family home the very day of the murder), Junger brings his inquisitive eye to the story, and its unsolved ending. Junger is a fascinating writer and the Half King is fast becoming one of the city's best reading venues, so it should be a great night. - Krissa Corbett Cavouras
Opinionist: Yeah Yeah Yeahs @ Maxwells & Bowery Ballroom
Last weekend the Yeah Yeah Yeahs played their first shows in the New York area since opening for Devo at Summerstage in 2004. They have a new album on the horizon and scheduled a few small and quickly sold out club dates to showcase the new material. I was fortunate to snag tickets to see them at Maxwells in Hoboken on Thursday and the Bowery Ballroom on Friday.

Summer Loving
Forget spring fever - it's summer fever in the city, with the Daily News and Post giving their pick-up suggestions for New York singles. The Daily News lets women know where to pick up certain kinds of guys with 25 bars: Jocks and wanna-bes (places with TVs); young professionals (Pastis, Whisky Blue); firefighters (ale houses); alterna boys (Sweet & Vicious, Baraza); prepsters (Automatic Slims); muscle men (go outerborough). The Daily News is trying to help those girls who are not models find guys who are not looking to date models - i.e., normal girls looking for normal guys. Gothamist just wants to say, ladies, just don't run around the city clutching this list.
