Gothamist is feeling a bit under the weather today, literally and figuratively, so we'll just get straight to it, if you don't mind: Monday it's singer-songwriter night at Bowery Ballroom, with Vic Chesnutt, David Bazan (of Pedro The Lion), Mark Eitzel, and Will Johnson (of Centro-Matic) all playing each other's songs together, as the Undertow Orchestra. That's a lot of emoting on one stage, folks. For the ultimate in lameness, check out INXS at Avery......

A few times a week, Gothamist publishes music reviews by our contributor Jeff Baum. The opinions below belong entirely to the author. The Test Icicles are far from your usual Brit-hype product. They are not your new favorite band, as Amy Philips at Pitchfork so brazenly declared a few weeks ago (see the last item). They aren't cute and cheeky and they don't play songs with instantly recognizable hooks or insightful lyrics. They're simply a......

With our tape recorder running and pressed firmly against the headset of our cell phone last Thursday, we sat down to talk to the Kaiser Chiefs as they prepared for their show in Chicago that night. Ricky was tending to an ankle problem but assured us that their show at Bowery Ballroom the next night would be high energy despite his ailment. We were unable to answer his inquiry on a pharmacy in Chicago at......

Since this seems to be hard to grasp for some we just want to reiterate that this post is just to let you know that we've noticed a few tickets that are on sale for shows that we believe may sell out. We won't be repeating any ticket listings we posted last time, so you may want to give that list a once over as well. Also, we put a $ sign next to overpriced......

So, by now you've asked, "where's all the rock and roll?" I've got an answer for you, friends. SXSW. South by Southwest. They stole it all. This week, though, here are some options: Tuesday, Sean Lennon is playing Tonic, and, in case you didn't know, Tonic needs saving. Seeing Sean play will help save Tonic. Even if you don't like him, you can buy a ticket for $12. If you do like him, bravo, you......

We'll have a full list of April and May shows coming up soon, there are A LOT to cover. We find it somehow comforting that we're already buying tickets for shows in the springtime ... we're ready to thaw! Moving on, so as not to repeat ourselves here is last month's sell outs list which has tickets that are still on sale for upcoming shows. And as for the below list we have starred the......

We planned on giving you a whole list of things to do on this rainy, cold Monday (aka: Valentine's Day) but let's face it, your destiny is sealed. Either you're "coupled" and you're going to spend the night in a dimly lit Italian restaurant. Or you're going to sit home alone on the couch with a dozen mini cupcakes from Sugar Sweet Sunshine watching Bridget Jones' Diary. Okay, maybe we have a few suggestions up......

There are some great shows coming up that will get you from Valentine's Day to St. Patricks Day, but you're going to want to buy tickets SOON, before they sell out. Gothamist is particularly looking forward to the Thermals [pictured, reading Nabokov - hott!] @ Knitting Factory, as well as our own Movable Hype 2 at the same venue. And if you don't know who the Kaiser Chiefs are, you will, so just buy tickets......

Coachella confirmations are starting to appear, after many many rumors. This year, the 6th, will be held April 30th to May 1st at Empire Polo Field in Indio, CA (same venue as last year). The lineup is still unconfirmed but you can probably expect Coldplay, Franz Ferdinand and the Killers. Others asked to perform this year are the Futureheads, Snow Patrol, Keane, Bloc Party, Secret Machines, Hot Hot Heat, Phoenix, The Bravery and Radio 4.......
