Street Art Makes It to Top of Williamsburg Bridge

Today the Wooster Collective posted a few photos of Judith Supine way at the tippy top of the Williamsburg Bridge, hanging his piece titled: "Above the City in a Summer Night Dream." This one seemed like a much more dangerous project than previous pieces (for example the fifty-foot-tall piece he hung over the side of the very same bridge, and two years ago he lowered one off the Manhattan Bridge). Again, we challenge Supine to bring his next piece into the Gowanus Canal.

Supine Takes a Dip in Central Park

Street artist Judith Supine installed this piece in Central Park yesterday, telling Wooster Collective, "I sank in the mud up to my waist." Two years ago a Supine creation briefly hung off the Manhattan Bridge over the East River. Perhaps a Superfund-themed Supine will visit the Gowanus?

Judith Supine put up a devious little piece in Union Square this morning-- when we went over to check it out at 10am, no one, including the vendors set up around the statue, had noticed that the head had been altered. When we started shooting some pictures, a little crowd formed-- the general consensus was that it was a very well made piece. It's unlikely to last long, however-- so if you want to see it, better get down there fast.

In August Judith Supine added some flare to the Manhattan Bridge by hanging a 50-foot piece of art off of it. As a follow-up he brings another work to go "bathing" in the East River with him...

Londonist are starting to think their city is getting just a little bit too expensive, when even Christian Slater can't afford to go out there. And there's no escaping, as local singer Lily Allen discovered when she was barred entry to the US. The British mapping agency caused further bad karma, by blocking a 3-D representation of London in Google Earth. But the smiles returned to Londonist's faces as they interviewed Baroness von Reichardt, who has completely covered her house in mosaic tiles.

Our sources on the Manhattan Bridge report that at 11:40am, Judith Supine dropped a massive 50' piece over the side facing south. This might be the biggest development in NYC bridge graffiti since Sane/Smith tagged the outside of the Brooklyn Bridge in the late-1980s! The best place to view the piece is from Empire State Park in DUMBO.

At 11am today, the Wooster on Spring project will open to the public. We've already taken a look at the outside of the building, and the interior before the painting began. Today we'd like to share some of our favorite pieces from the 30,000 square feet of interior space. What we've included below is just a small sampling of the art available inside-- to get the full effect, there is no substitute for visiting in person. The building can be found at the corner of Elizabeth and Spring, and it will be open until 5pm each day through Sunday.

If you live or work anywhere below 14th Street, or in Williamsburg, you've probably noticed Judith Supine's colorful collage-works. He's been going wild these last couple of months, with dozens of pieces appearing around town. Last night, the artist posted a video on YouTube, showing how each piece is made: first, the collage is hand-cut, then blown up on a photocopier, and finally painted and pasted on a wall. Very cool!

-- ...and attention outer-borough residents, Gawker has a message for you: "Unless you're on the big island, you don't count for shit." Oh, don't get so mad-- they've been saying that for years.
