There's a lot of pressure to see your friends and family this time of year. And sometimes, you just need a bus to get you there, whether or not your stop is along its intended route. That's what Andrew Hickey, who stole a Greyhound bus from a Syracuse depot and drove it 70 miles to visit a friend, may have been thinking, anyway.

Apparently Drugged-Out Man Steals Ambulance For Joyride

Parked Car's Mysterious 724 Mile Joy Ride
A Westchester couple who left their car in a long-term parking lot near JFK airport returned home 11 days later to find it had accumulated 724 miles. It's a car mystery equivalent to the 18 minute gap: will we ever know what happened during those 724 miles?
Underwear-Clad Thief Steals Truck, Hits Girls
Two girls in 7th grade sustained non-life threatening injuries after getting hit by a deranged delivery truck thief in Marine Park yesterday. The unidentified, under-dressed man was attired in just black underwear and a filthy white shirt; he was not carrying ID when police finally apprehended him after his destructive joyride. The Daily News reports that before stealing the delivery truck, the man was seen in Midwood "munching on leaves straight from tree branches and menacing kids with a garden hose." Which sounds like your average fun Thursday afternoon in your skivvies, but then things turned criminal.
15-Year-Old Gets 18 Months In Juvie For Fatal Joyride
The 15-year-old boy who flipped his family's GMC Envoy while speeding on the Bruckner Expressway—killing 12-year-old passenger Kaitlin Booth— last December was sentenced to 18 months in a juvenile detention center after pleading guilty to criminally negligent homicide. Initially after the crash, Anthony Pontis claimed that Booth, a neighbor, was a pedestrian and the SUV was driven by two men who ran off. The Daily News reports, "Depending on Pontis' behavior and other circumstances, a judge could extend the 18-month sentence till his 18th birthday." His lawyer said, "He's a child and he's heartbroken... He's a good kid who did a bad thing. His family extends their condolences to the Booth family."
Women Steal Cop Car in Queens
A common Hollywood movie trope inspired a real life getaway yesterday when two women stole a cop car during an arrest in Queens. And they got away with it, too! (So far.) The shenanigans started around 3 p.m. at the corner of 230th Place and Mentone Avenue in Laurelton, after police pulled over the driver of a green minivan that was reported stolen. The driver bolted, managing to run a block away before the two cops subdued him. But as they made the collar, two female passengers stealthily exited the van and proceeded to the idling police car.
15-Year-Old "Driver" Crashes, Two 14-Year-Olds Ejected
A 15-year-old Queens resident stole his father's minivan and took his friends out for a 3 a.m. drive, in what cops say could have been his first time ever behind the wheel. Police say he was speeding when he lost control, hit a light pole and then a tree in Great Neck. Two 14-year-old girls sitting in the back were ejected from the car. It appears that neither of the girls were wearing seat belts.
