Earlier this week, we reported that police had ID'd a victim of a fatal hit-and-run as Williamsburg resident Josh Crouch. And then we noticed that one commenter, Kris, had been with Josh a few hours before his death and noted that he was ID-less because he had left it at home. Another commenter urged Kris to contact the police, which she did:

I did contact the police and they forwarded to me crimestoppers, who told me that if I didn't know who hit him and didn't see him get hit then I "had the wrong number." I asked if there was someone else I should talk to and he practically hung up on me. On Monday, police were investigating a hit-and-run death on the West Side Highway. A man was hit by a southbound vehicle at West 12th Street at 3:45AM, and the police were trying to find out who was driving - and who the victim even was, as police didn't find any identification on the body. And now it looks like the victim was Brooklyn resident Josh Crouch. The Post reports that friends say he was headed to visit his girlfriend upstate (his packed bags were in his East Williamsburg apartment). Crouch had been "working as an emcee with the band Mindspray and also had a job at the restaurant Luna Park in Union Square." more ›
