Giants Pro Bowlers Enjoy Their Lei in the Sun

Despite a disappointingly early exit from the playoffs just a few weeks ago, the handful of Giants who headed to Hawaii for this year's Pro Bowl seem to be enjoying themselves. Eli Manning will back up Kurt Warner in his first-ever trip, marking the first time two sibling quarterbacks will appear in the same game. Eli says that he has been invited more than once in the past by his brother, perennial Pro Bowler Peyton, but waited until he earned the nod as more than just a guest.

Eli Manning will be in the same Pro Bowl as his brother Peyton. History is made! (But how does Matt Ryan feel about Eli's inclusion?) The Giants will send six to Hawaii, including both punter Jeff Feagles and placekicker John Carney. Combined age? 86. Their vaunted defense will have only one representative in Justin Tuck. That seems funny. The Giants' stellar offensive line did get some love. Guard Chris Snee will start, and center Shaun O'Hara will be a reserve.

Late Wednesday night, an 82-year-old woman crossing Delancey Street at Allen was fatally hit by an SUV driver. The driver, who was traveling west on Delancey, stayed on the scene was not charged with a crime.

Yesterday, three pedestrians were killed in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan:

- At around 12 a.m, Mario Sagastume was hit by a Nissan Maxima when crossed Ashford Street near Liberty Avenue in East New York. The Maxima did not stop, though people were chasing the car. Residents mentioned that there are frequent accidents and that there should be a light at the intersection.

All too often we write about hit and run incidents, but this past weekend, blogger, friend of Gothamist and many others, John Carney, was hit at 5:30am in the Lower East Side. The intersection is one we've crossed often, Allen and Delancey. From dpstyles Flickr:

"The whole thing happened late Saturday night (around 5:30am???) down on Delancey + Allen...walking west crossing Allen and John got clipped out of nowhere as a car took the corner too fast (if you've ever crossed this intersection you'll know what I'm talking about).

Every so often we attend the monthly Jinx Magazine debates. They are right near our apartment and sometimes...sometimes...we even learn something at them. The debate is held in the basement at Lolita, a rather uncomfortable atmosphere for the event - but a rather enjoyable spot to grab a drink. Drinking debaters are more fun to watch, thus the appeal of this event.
